grizzlies will hibernate when there is a seasonal shortage of food, low environmental temperatures, or when there’s snow arrival. Grizzly bears hibernate five to seven months each year. The grizzly will enter into hibernation in October or November. During this time the grizzly bear must prepare a den and consume as much food as possible to last their hibernation period. While searching for a den the grizzly may travel many miles until it finds a suitable area that it likes. The dens are usually at elevations above 1,800 m (5,900 ft) on north-facing slopes. The reason why bears have to eat as much food as possible is because they need the energy from the food to last through the entire winter. They may eat up to 90 lbs of food per day, while trying to put on as much weight as possible. When it’s time for grizzlies to hibernate; will enter their den, and fall into a “deep” sleep. During this time the grizzlies won’t eat or drink; but instead they digest their stored up fat; (the fat used to last them through their entire hibernation.) The bear also will not urinate or defecate, but will reabsorb their urine and feces into proteins. The bear can use 25-40% of their body weight during hibernation; the bear’s heart rate and body temperature may also drop. The “Nova” episode of ‘Judgement Day: Intelligent Design on Trial’ is based on the case “Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District” which took a place in Pennsylvania. While watching the episode, I remember watching this episode in my Bio 1 course with Dr. Coleman at Sacramento State. I was very shocked when I watched the episode first time about 3 years ago. The main reason of this trial was when Dover Area School District made the policy that their school will be required the teaching of intelligent design. The intelligent design is a religious argument that explains that universe and living things happened because of intelligent cause, not because of natural selection. Katherine Paterson’s “The Last Dog” follows the teenage Brock on his journey into the world outside the dome, an dystopian earth. While in the dome, Brock was taught that there was no life outside of the dome. This thought is contradicted, however, when Brock discovers an earth that highly resembles today’s earth. This earth contains plants, water, and some organisms, such as dogs. The world outside the dome is very different than the world inside the dome. The world inside the dome is different from the world outside the dome because of the live contained in both and the resources available. The world inside the dome does have some similarities to the world outside the dome, however. Both the world inside and outside the dome contain water, and they both contain air.
The chance for a grown man to act alongside a cohort of children as the aging, homeless matinee idol in David Mamet’s “Revenge of the Space Pandas” does not come along very often. So when that opportunity presented itself to Andrew Biliter, he leaped at the chance.
These cute looking lazy creatures have more reason to live then there taken for. You may ask “Why the panda bear should live?” Or……”What’s they’re purpose here on earth?” Well truth is the giant panda is actually critical to our environment; this is because of the role they play in the bamboo forests. They roam and spread seeds facilitating the growth of veggies that other vegetarian like animals eat. The giant panda bears aren’t the only ones living in that same forest either. In the Yangtze Basin where the giant pandas live, the same forest is the home to a stunning amount of other amazingly rare wildlife. This proves they have a very good reason for being here on earth, they not only provide for other vegetarian animals in the forest, but they also provide for humans.

The Giant panda is plays an important role in chinese culture as well. With a population of less than 10,000 the red panda is listed vulnerable on the endangered species list. “The red panda has small cat like features but markings like a panda or a raccoon (Bearlife). “The red panda lives in Asia its habitat ranges include central China, Nepal, Myanmar, and Bhutan (Bearlife).”Reasoning for red pandas becoming endangered is habitat destruction. “Once living in many parts of Asia, the red panda is now confined to parceled territories that collectively are a fraction of its original habitat (Bearlife).” The red panda is a beautiful and magnificent creature. But sadly it is dying off that is good reasoning for humans to take matters into their own hands by making the Panchthar-Ilam-Taplejung Red Panda protected forest.

An endangered species is a species of organisms that is likely to become extinct due to natural or man-made changes in the environment. The animal which is most popular for its dangerously small numbers is the panda, which has become the poster child for endangered species. Unfortunately, there are only about a 1,000 pandas left in the wild. However, more than 300 pandas live in zoos and breeding centers throughout the world.
It’s a cat, it’s a panda, its a raccoon., its the red panda! The red Panda is a cute furry animal with a feisty look in its eye. The Red Panda is related to the Giant Panda and looks and has similar characteristics to the street raccoon. The scientific name for the Red Panda in Ailurus fulgens. Red Pandas are endangered creatures with their habitats slowly disappearing. Red Pandas have similar characteristics to raccoons. Red Pandas don’t eat very much for their size.

The giant panda is also known as the panda bear, bamboo bear, or in Chinese as Daxiongmao, the "large bear cat." Actually, its scientific name means "black and white cat-footed animal." Giant pandas are found only in the mountains of central China. They live in dense bamboo and coniferous forests at altitudes of 5,000 to 10,000 feet. The mountains are covered in heavy clouds with torrential rains or dense mist throughout the year. Giant pandas are bear-like in shape with striking black and white markings.
Currently, Giant Pandas are highly endangered with only 1,600 living freely in the wild and roughly 300 living in zoos or breeding centers. This low number of existing pandas means the species has a relatively high risk of becoming extinct. The pandas reside mostly in China around the basin area of Yangtze, which poses a major problem, because this area is currently one of China’s most thriving regions with constant destruction and new development. Therefore, the bears are pushed into small areas without the living conditions they are accustomed to. The pandas are continuously fighting for their lives in result of habitat loss, low reproduction rate, food shortage, and poaching.
