Palm Tree Project

For my final project I had a simplistic approach, I had used minimal colors and tried not to create a ton of objects surrounding the palm tree. The subject I was creating was a landscape of the ocean from a pirate’s point of view. The form of the project was created so the island with the palm tree would be the first thing you would see. This is because pirates would constantly search for land, whether it is to steal or find treasure on. The content of the project is the satisfaction and happiness you get when you see the palm tree and island. As soon as your eye appears on the focal point, you understand what the image is trying to tell you. Together all three: subject, form and content create unity within the image. Each one is important to get the story across to the viewer, which is a pirate view through a telescope.
The type of balance used for my final project was asymmetry balance; this is due to the off balance of the island and palm tree. The island is slightly longer on the right side of the image, while the palm tree is mostly on the left side of the island and leans to the left side. Although, they …show more content…

Then your eyes travel across the ocean and skyline and goes towards the bottom of the image where the water ripples are located. Finally, your eyes will exist the image after looking at the focal point one last time. I had created the primary visual path by adding small details around the palm tree and island and making sure I had evened the image out. I had also made sure to paint the ocean near the sky last because I wanted the viewers to use that line across the image to move their eyes. I knew if I had paint the light blue last that it would have made the image tacky and back words, especially as looking through a telescope the ocean is seen in the foreground while the sky is in the
