After several years of experience volunteering and working with children, I recognize that my ultimate dream is to become a paediatric registered nurse. I have a genuine passion when it comes to working with children and their families. It is the most rewarding and fulfilling feeling to be remembered for making a positive difference in the lives of children and their families. Since the paediatric population is vulnerable, I believe it is essential to obtain as much paediatric nursing experience as possible, while still in school. Thus, I will have developed a strong knowledge base and the necessary skills to work as a paediatric registered nurse, upon graduation. In particular, I desire to work at SickKids as this organization shares similar values to my own. Specifically, SickKids and I share the values of excellence, compassion and collaboration. I belive it is essential when working with such a vulernable population to aim for excellent and compassion care, which can be accomplished by working with an efficient and effective team.

Since I have an extreme interest in mental health, I believe I would be well suited in this environment. I had the pleasure of working at The George Hull Centre, for my Fall 2017 clinical placement, which is a centre that specializes in mental health for children ages 0-6. This was a very enriching and rewarding experience. I developed respectful communication skills, health promotion and health education, during this placement when working with caregivers and children.
