I believe the defining moment in the life of a Computer Science student is when he/she stops being just the end-user and ventures behind the scenes, into the domain of programming and software or hardware development. I went through this transition during my 11th grade when I opted for the Informatics Practices subject, an elective, for my high school education. I was acquainted with the technical frontiers of computers before this juncture, having been perpetually intrigued with everything to do with computers and tried my hand at HTML and batch scripts, but this was the first time I was writing actual lines of code and realizing how a blend of math, logic and creativity could lead to solutions to virtually any problem. The inspiring fact is that although there have been several significant contributions, there is still a lot of scope for potential researchers to contribute their best in every conceivable field, more so in the field of Computer Science, which happens to be my chosen major. It is with this inspiration and a passion to contribute to the best of my abilities that I submit my application for graduate study in the School of Computer Science at your esteemed university.
The undergraduate course at my university helped me gain insight and fundamental knowledge regarding programming languages and the various sub disciplines of Computer Science. Masters in Computer Science
There are a lot of reasons why I chose to pursue pharmacy as my career and they all point to the most important reason: pharmacy is a great fit for my life and is something I have become increasingly passionate about. It started when I was researching careers with my parents and my dad suggested pharmacy and, simply put, it sparked my interest because at the time it was one of the few things I thought I would not hate doing. A healthcare career has always been where I put myself in the future, mainly because most of my family members are in the healthcare field. However, I have never been one that could directly help the wounded or deal with anything gory, but am very intrigued by the growing science of pharmacy. As I continue exploring pharmacy, the more I enjoy learning about it and feel like I could excel in this career.
Soaked under sweat, I stood on the running machine, took a deep breath, and counted in my mind, one…two… three, GO! With renewed power and confidence, I started to run again with satisfaction. This moment happened every day in last summer at a gym and I lost 62pounds. Had persisted for five months, I am so proud of myself that I am able to achieve the goal of losing weight and established high self-discipline. In addition, I have gained great appreciation for the challenges. However, I also have grown up from this, on the other hand, frustrated experience. Not because the process of losing weight was painful, but because my by-product of the weight loss journey, my online team.
Whoosh!A bed whizzed by, surrounded by about 6 medical personnel. “What’s going on?” I thought immediately with apprehension. I knew whatever was happening it was not ideal. Ensuring I was not in the way, I stood on my toes to see what demanded so much attention. To my astonishment, I saw a coin sized hot-pink little girl. She could not have been bigger than two quarters lying side by side.She was struggling! Even with all the procedures the doctors were executing to save her life, she was performing the most work.
My perseverance has prepared me for a career in medicine. The path towards becoming a physician can be long and challenging, necessitating the ability to endure. My ability to bounce back from setbacks and mistakes has solidified throughout my journey. One of the cornerstone experiences of my personal development occurred during high school. My determination led to me my graduating as valedictorian of my class, while balancing three varsity sports and several extracurricular activities. In addition, I worked on weekends to help support my family financially. This persistence resulted in scholarship awards that made higher education a possibility.
Golf is a sport of confidence, honesty, and patience. It has taught me to practice these traits in my everyday life. I have more confidence in myself and I know that I will succeed. I am honest even when the truth hurts. I am patient with those around me no matter how annoyed I may be. My name is Evin Edens, and golf is my passion.
My best (and favorite) subject in school is Math. Ever since I was very little I have loved math, and worked very hard at it. When I do not fully understand topics I do extra problems to make sure that they become clear to me. I spend a lot of time working on math to make sure I understand the topics throughly. I have been in math clubs since 4th grade, and in 7th grade I represented my school at the MathCounts® competition where I won a two silver pins. I won the Virginia State Math Award in 7th grade, and this year I got an 800 in math on my SSAT. As a result of my hard work I am currently one of three students in my school to be in the highest math group, Precalculus.

I also look forward to networking with fellow SPUR-LABS students and faculty. In my time at UCLA, I have realized that research is all but a solo act. It is a cooperative endeavor, and being in the program will provide a collaborative and supportive environment for me to succeed. Ideally, I would like to have at least one paper published during my undergraduate career. C.S. Lewis once said, “Experience: the most brutal of teachers. But you learn, my God, do you learn.” Such experiences, especially SPUR-LABS will hopefully aid my journey to graduate school and my pursuit of a Ph.D. and work in academia and work alongside of the professors and mentors I have today.
In terms of teaching, our undergraduate and graduate curriculum provides a timely and well-rounded view of the field, with special emphasis on the practical aspects of building useful software. Our strengths lie in the traditional mainstream of areas of computer science: algorithms, programming languages, operating systems, distributed computing, networks, databases and theory of computing. We also offer courses in some subfields: graphics, artificial intelligence and the software aspects of computer architecture. The department's programs prepare students for positions in the design and development of computer systems and applications, in business and industry, and for scientific positions in industrial or academic computing research.
In today’s world where several different domains of technology must imbricate to pacify the rapid pace of development, it is necessary to take a multifaceted approach to learning. It spans a wide range of modern applications, as does my interest in the subject. I am applying for the course of Computer Science because I would like to increase my knowledge of this subject. I hope that in the future I will be able to create applications for computers that will help people to save time and money.
My interest in Computers dates back to early days of my high school. The field of CS has always fascinated me. The reason for choosing CS stream was not a hasty decision. My interest started developing in the early stage of my life, when I studied about the invention of computers. The transformation from the large size to small palmtops enticed me to know about the factors responsible for making computers, also the electronic gadgets so small.
