An outpatient clinic offers a number of patients that need expanded services. The services provided allow the patients to receive primary care. The other services provide women healthcare, phlebotomy, social services, mental health and weight management. The outpatient clinic affiliated with other clinics. The safety aspect of the facility is making sure the patients provided with quality services.

A. A newly planned outpatient clinic should have a fire and safety plan for employees and patients. The leadership should create policies and establish processes regarding fire and safety management protocols. Regular drills should be practiced and all employees should know their role in a fire or safety emergency.
B. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has established many standards to ensure employees work in a safe work environment. OSHA has established guidelines and checklists for reference on several safety topics that applies to an outpatient clinic. For example, "Every workplace must have enough exits suitably located to enable everyone to get out of the facility quickly" (OSHA, n.d). The positive thing about a newly planned design is that there is plenty of opportunities to get the exit plan right from the beginning versus having to work with existing entrance and exits in a renovation.
