A. In this presentation our group will be covering the culture of Italy. Alternative names for Italy are as follows: Republic of Italy, Italia, and Republica Italiana. The current population of Italy is 58.2 million, and the capital is Rome.
B. Italy is surrounded by four seas of the Mediterranean and is currently the home of three active volcanoes: which are Stromboli, Vesuvius, and Etna. Italy is also popularly known for being the home of the Pope.
C. Today we will be defining Italy’s culture through these five areas, Religious beliefs and holidays, family structure, educational structure, business structure, and political practices.
[Transition into body of speech]: We will start off with talking about Italy’s religious beliefs and holidays. And how the religions are a sacred thing for the Italians.
II. BODY
A. In Italy, 90% of the population is Roman Catholic according to “Countries and Their Cultures”. This high percentage of Roman Catholics in Italy can be contributed to the fact it’s the home of the Pope. The other percent of the religion consist of Jews, Muslims, Orthodox and Eastern Rite Catholics. Another known reason for it being highly catholic is because all the other religions have mixed with popular Spanish beliefs. Rome is the capital of Italy, and center of the Roman Catholic religion.
1. Italy has over 2,000 years of holy places, and thousands of shrines, relics, and churches in Rome. In the Vatican City there are many relics of Saint Peter and other popes. Religious ceremonies in Italy are frequent, which are the holy days of the Roman Catholic Church-Christmas, Easter, Pentecost, the Immaculate Conception and a few others. 3. In Italy, the president is the commander of the armed forces, and also holds the chair of the Supreme Council of Defense. Italy is also a member of NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) and was involved in allowing its air bases to attack Yugoslavia.

III. CONCLUSION:
A. Signal the end of the speech: These five areas helped to identify Italy’s culture. By breaking each of them down helped analyze in just how the culture of Italy works.
B. Summary: Italy’s Religious beliefs and holidays, family structures, educational structure, business practices, and political structure made it easier for us to better understand in just how Italy works and functions.
C. Concluding Remarks: Knowing about Italy’s culture helped us understand how they live and how similar and different they are from us.
