The 1980’s, a remarkable decade that started from January 1, 1980 to December 31, 1989. The most significant events in the 1980’s was the Economic doings of “Reaganomics”, Social Movements of women’s rights, Foreign Affairs of the Cold War. Many other events were included like Science & Technology, Arts & Entertainment, and Politics.Admittedly, many would argue that the Economic, Social, and Foreign Affairs wouldn’t be the highlight of the 80’s but let’s take a look on why others might oppose to that thought.
During the campaign of 1980 called “Reaganomics”, Ronald Reagan announced a recipe to fix the nation’s economic mess.He claimed to undue tax burdens, excessive government regulations, and massive social spending programs that hampered growth. Reagan proposed a phased 30% tax reduction for the first three years of his presidency. …show more content…

People in East Germany, could see the prosperity and wealth of their neighbors in West Germany.Russia having long lines of people waiting to buy food had to have coupons from the government just to buy socks.Some historians believe that trillions of dollars were both the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. being spent on nuclear arms and conventional armies that had caused problems in Russia. A lot of pent up demand for freedom in the citizens living behind the Iron Curtain. When Russia showed they wouldn’t interfere in Eastern Europe any longer , the berlin wall was demolished. These forces eventually came to a head in the 1980s. In response Russia elected Mikhail Gorbachev as the leader of the U.S.S.R. The new leader decided to loosen the repression on liberties that the old governments had used to keep people in line.
