Oscar Wilde had that one love that couldn’t let anyone know. He was homosexual and knew that it was illegal. This is why Oscar was popular because of his personal life. Oscar Wilde was born on October 16, 1854 and was from Dublin, Ireland. His father was Sir William Wilde. He was an eye doctor. The mother was Jane Francesca Elgee. She was a poet and journalist. He then left Ireland permanently in 1878. In 1884 Oscar met Constance Lloyd. Oscar met her in London and fell in love. They got married in May 29, 1884 and they had two sons. Wilde died in November 30,1900. He had a cerebral diseases named meningitis. Oscar was 46 years of age. He is still better remembered for his personal life than for his literary achievements. Oscar won a scholarship to Trinity College in Dublin and Magdalen College in Oxford. He was awarded with a degree in honors. Wilde was a smart man although Oscar Wilde gain more popularity because of his personal life. Oscar was homosexual and got put into jail because of it. Back then it was illegal to be gay. He only spend two years in prison. After him being in jail he wanted to himself as a writer. By then he was living in cheap hotels. Wilde died in November 30, 1900. He got a virus name meningitis.
