ORIGIN OF RELIGION AND HISTORY OF COMPARATIVE RELIGION
What is the origin of religion? To know the origin of religion, we should all have an opinion or a vague idea of what we think religion is. Religion is a very vast concept. Different scholars, different people view religion very differently. For example people studying religion view it very differently from devotees. And it is not only different scholars that have different views on what religion is. People of different age groups or generations and for that matter even caste make a difference. Belief in a religion can be as much from fear as for pure unquestioning trust.
Personally for me for a religion to stand a person needs to have faith and belief. It is said that a simple well accepted definition of religion is combination of faith and God, where God is a super human or a super natural force. Going by this theory even Rajnikant could be considered God. But this isn’t the case, because Rajnikant’s temples and fan following are mainly in just a part of the world. If this devotion and faith could spread its boundaries and can gain enough devotees then maybe overtime it can be considered God.
Anyways coming back to the topic that is what exactly is the origin of religion? How have different religions and their theories developed? Has the origin come out of these theories and myths?
