Client, Orange Inns and Suites, Inc., is in a dispute with Mr. Samuel Binion. Mr. Binion was a guest at the Motel. Valued items from Mr. Binion’s car were stolen overnight at the Motel’s parking lot. He claims that the front desk clerk told him that the trunk of his car was a good place to store his items and that the parking lot was a very safe place. He is upset that his custom made $22,000.00 wake board was stolen and that he should not be responsible. The lighted parking lot was not gated and it is unclear if there was a security guard present at the time.

Each year, America’s travel and tourism industry generates approximately $1.5 trillion dollars in economic output, or about 2.6% of the country’s gross domestic product (Select USA, 2016). Nearly 20% of this economic activity is directly related to accommodations, which serve the short term lodging needs of pleasure and business travelers. Unlike other American economic sectors, this lodging industry is a highly fragmented, diversified market with an incredible variety of suppliers. Temporary overnight lodging can range from undeveloped campsites, hostels, and capsule hotels all the way up to mansions and incredibly luxurious five store hotels. Price ranges run the gamut from just a few dollars a night to thousands of
1. The philosophy behind the 100% Satisfaction Guarantee is to have the guests act as quality-assurance inspectors by identifying quality deficiencies and reporting them to hotel employees. I do think that this is a good way to improve service quality; however, I am not sure that it is the best way. While it may seem to consumers that employees will try harder to satisfy them, if employees are empowered to refund a customer’s money, they do not have to answer to management, they can just do it.

Developing and designing a mixed-use hotel property represents a certain legal and business challenge for the developers, owners and the operators since it combines several different venues into the same property. Likewise requires great sum of attention toward the operation and the management of the project. Accommodating customer requirements in most supply chain arrangement requires a forecast to drive the process. This is an assignment that involves analysis of a hotels mission statement. At first the student chose the cape heritage hotel, but when she went to speak to the general manager, Anja Du Plessis, she realised that not every business has a printed out mission statement, they might have a culture and they know what their goals are but they are too small to have a typed out mission statement. The student tried to find a mission statement of the southern sun hotel group. The Tsogo Sun Group is a very big hotel group that needs to have a mission statement so that all the southern sun hotels have the same vision and mission. They need to know where they are going to and what the main purpose is. The hotel didn’t want to give a mission statement to the student but there was something on their website that could tell the student a little more about the hotel group and its mission. Their vision and mission is to provide the greatest possible variety of quality hospitality, leisure, and gaming and entertainment experiences at all their destinations (Tsogo Sun. (n.d.)). In spite of having numerous structures in place to ensure a luxurious guest experience, the Oberoi Vanayvilas (OV) failed to provide a quality service to its hotel guest. To recover from this service failure, we recommend OV to sincerely apologize and ‘offer refund for the third night and a credit for the two nights for a future stay with additional hotel perks tobe used at OV within a year’ to the impacted guest. Main drivers for our recommendation are to convey a message that Oberoi sincerely cares about the customer inconvenience and wants its guest to revisit the hotel to win over the customer by its exemplary quality service.
The Hotel industry has become very important in the past years due to immense traveling and growth of international business. The Hotel industry not only plays an important role in the life of people but as well as the economy of the country. I spent an hour of my day relaxing in the lobby at the Fontainebleau resort in Miami, while on vacation with my family visiting from out of state. It was my first time staying at the resort so I was eager to check it out, after seeing such great reviews on Yelp and hearing great things from friends who have been there in the past. The employees working at the resort were very welcoming, professional and willing to go above and beyond to help their guests. The check-in process was very quick due to having
