Operant conditioning, also known as instrumental conditioning, is a form of learning that utilizes a specific stimulus to result a voluntary response from the subject. 278. Within operant conditioning, there is reinforcement, or in simpler terms, a reward 281. Reinforcement is there to increase the chances for an specific action to be repeated each time the certain stimulus is provided. However, reinforcement can also be utilized to eliminate a behavior that is not desired. There are two different types of reinforcement; partial and continuous. Continuous schedule is where an individual is always reinforced a specific behavior, while with partial schedule the behavior is only sometimes reinforced.

Another form of learning that is very similar to operant conditioning is classical conditioning, Both forms of conditioning have a stimulus that produces a response, however, unlike operant conditioning, classical conditioning compels an involuntary response to an unconditioned stimulus 281. Distributed studying is far more better than massed studying. The reason for this is because massed studying only leads one to chunk the information and encode the material in an individual’s short term memory. Another concept is that when mass studying is combined with sleep deprivation, it only results the student to remember less. Overall lack of sleep has a negative impact on the student’s ability to absorb the material.For future individuals is best to avoid performing an all nighters due to the reasons that you are sleep deprived and less likely to remember the material. All nighters only result the material to stay in your short term memory and there is no knowing how long that memory will last. Individuals or students must balance both their studies and sleeping schedule, because both are essential for better qualitative learning sessions. This advice is more preferred, because it permits individuals to not avoid the subject and have better passing
