Have you ever flipped through channels on your television, and witness the many millionaires telling their success stories? Have you ever wondered “why can’t I be that successful”? Well what is Success, what is this vague noun that represents achievements? Does Success display wealth, possessions, or positions? According to Dictionary.com, Success is defined as the favorable or prosperous termination of attempt or endeavors; the accomplishment of one’s goal. Now we may never be President, or Drake, but with Persistence, Discipline, and a little luck we can all be successful.
One major quality that correlates with success is persistence. Persistence is a quality many lack. There are times where one expierence tribulations in working towards goals, but instead of one persisting, their hopelessness comes into play, and one gives up. Persistence allows one to dust off failure and keep pursuing their goal. One thing a lot of successful entrepreneurs include in their interviews is how bad they desired it. Where people would be willing to give up their whole lives, all their money and put everything into their dreams. To give a solid description, Persistence is defined as; to continue steadfastly or firmly in some state, purpose, course of action, or the like especially in spite of opposition. Unless you’re the luckiest man alive, you will experience opposition in your life at one point or another. Oppositions can be compared to road blocks. When you reach a road block in your life, you don’t stare at it, and turn back around; what you will do is find another way around it, and keep going. As long as one has persistence, one has the most desirable quality in success.
Once one has persistence in their bin of qualities, discipline is the next characteristic for success. Discipline is the characteristic that rendezvous with persistence. Discipline is defined as: training to act in accordance with rules. With discipline one must create their own rules for success. Not only will one decipher their rules, but one must have the restraint to follow them consistently. With having self-discipline, it shows the passion one must have towards ones goal. Discipline shows that one has integrity, relies on their own self-control, and has obedience to their oath of restraint from whatever it is. This allows the person’s determination of their goal to stay on a precise road. Like math, there are plenty of distinct roads to take towards success.

Throughout our lives we all experience a variety of things that help us define what success means to us. Some people look at success in a materialistic sense, while others take a more spiritual approach. Regardless of the way we view success or the factors that influence that view, we each have our own very unique Personal Philosophy on the subject. Personally, my philosophy is that the implementation of success strategies is key to achieving what one chooses to define as success. I have found that the three most effective success strategies I can use for years to come are being a critical thinker, improving concentration, and being an active listener. All three of these strategies are very practical and relevant to both my educational and professional pursuits, and therefore have proven to be the most effective in regards to my Personal Philosophy of Success.
There is nothing wrong with persistence. Some say you don’t need persistence to succeed, but many would agree it is very important. Persistence is the ability to stay with your goals and
When it comes to the topic of success, most of us will readily agree that there are various ways to define success. Whereas this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of what factors most determine success. Whereas some are convinced that “The Triple Package” is essential, others maintain that there are many factors that determine success. Malcolm Gladwell states numerous examples of what can bring on success. Some of these factors are culture, luck, and practice. Another point of view is in his book “Outliers,” Gladwell writes “When outliers become outliers it is not because of their own efforts. It’s because of the contributions of lots of different people and lots of different circumstances, and that means we, as a society, have more control about who succeeds - and how many of us succeed – than we think.” (pg. 7-8; Reading Group Guide) is what composes long-term success. I personally believe that success is brought upon by culture, luck, and hard work.

Those factors are personal responsibility, they are the factors in people’s hand that can make success .Actually there are other factor that is outside of our control, but really affect our opportunities and success. According to Malcolm Gladwell, Carol Dweck and Daniel Pink; I found that these uncontrollable factors are ecology, growth mindset, Matthew effect and cultural legacy can have a positive effect on opportunities and success.
Success is not earning a fat juicy check at the end of each month, or being a part of a large social group filled with fraudulent people that appear as familiar faces. But it is a person discovering him or herself after they had been lost and establishing a sense of purpose that makes them fills them with a warm glowing sense of accomplishment. Success does not have one transparent definition, it has various meanings depending on what success means to the individual trying to achieve it. Success is surviving.

Ever since the times of the BC era, wealth had defined success (Definition of Success). A wealthy person of those times would be looked at as a superior being, they would be someone you’d show respect for. They were successful. Although that's the definition of success back then, does it mean something different now? Like every human being, and every past structure of society, the word evolves with time because society's’ values change. The definition of the word “success” was often considered as the achievement of wealth, but now it has become modernized to fit into today's society.
