With so much technology at hand in today's society, it's inevitable for changes to happen within training programs. Although some companies have stuck with the "tried and true" programs, such as the classroom discussion/lecture programs, many companies are trying to find new ways to help their employees obtain the knowledge and skills needed for their particular job. For a company to stay successful, they will have to constantly comply with the new trends in training while also staying true to their mission and/or objectives. When using this type of practice, one or more advisors will guide a group of learners in a “knowledge sharing environment” (Emelo, 2011, p. 136). One advantage of this type of training is the amount of knowledge that can be learned about certain complex skills or in-depth processes. During a research project conducted on the new learning option, Triple Creek found that many companies use this type of training for communication training, new emerging leaders, expanding leadership skills, and mentor development (Emelo, 2011, p. 137). During this experiment, the researchers also found that 75 percent of the respondents stated that their productivity and effectiveness increased due to the group mentoring trend (Emelo, 2011, p. 138). The practitioners in this training program engage in “give and take” during group meetings; therefore, because creative learning normally occurs when different ideas and perspectives are exposed, the trainers or advisors can also gain new skills or obtain new knowledge. Group mentoring training has proved to provide satisfaction for the learners within the group. Because the advisors normally come from the same organization as the learners, the topic being discussed is completely relevant to the learners’ roles in the organization. They are able to apply the information learned through the course towards their role and use it effectively.
