I. How many of you have accounts on dating apps such as Tinder and Hot or Not? Or maybe know someone who has used eHarmony or Match.com?

II. Most individuals our age, and even older are using or have used an app or an account of some sort like this. Because these applications are so popular amongst so many people, everyone needs to be aware of the dangers of these online dating sites and apps. III. It is estimated that there are 40 million Americans using dating apps and websites (ABC News).

IV. I have throughly researched these statistics and this specific topic.

Thesis: There are many dangers that come along with online dating, two specific and very important dangers are: identity and predators.

One never knows exactly who they are talking to. Predators establish contact with kids through conversations in chat rooms, instant messaging, e-mail or discussion boards. These type of online vessels allow predators to use fake aliases to lure a wide array of individuals. 1. Predators have no limits on what they can do (Internet Safety 101). When an individual gives out their name, school, or personal interests, it is irrevocable. This gives predators leeway to take advantage of these individuals and their information (Internet Safety 101). 2. Everything is completely anonymous and not credited for within these chatrooms, instant messaging users, discussion boards, and emails.
