What is the first thing that comes to mind when hearing O.J. Simpson? Perhaps to sports lovers, Simpson and his very successful collegiate and American league football career are what highlights his name. During the fifteen-year career, Simpson was able to win several awards including the Heisman Award. In addition, O.J. embarked on an acting career, which included, films, television shows, and sports commentary. Commonly, Orenthal James Simpson is most famous for the horrific murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown-Simpson, and California waiter, Ron Goldman. The double homicide involving O.J. Five years after Simpsons’ retirement from professional football, on February 2, 1985, he marries Nicole Brown. Nicole and O.J. were able two have two children together, Sydney and Justin. On January 1, 1986, Nicole contacts the Los Angeles Police Department, during the call, Nicole indicates that Orenthal has beaten her and is threatening to kill her. As identified by legal documents, there have been over fifty cases like the one that took place on January 1st. The evidence shows that Los Angeles officers refused to charge Orenthal with any crime. Brown-Simpson often complained to close friends and family of the abusive relationship that she shared with Mr. Simpson. Despite this, Orenthal denied ever hitting Nicole and claimed that any injury was a result from friendly “wrestling.” In an undated letter addressed to Orenthal, Nicole expresses her feelings about the relationship that the two shared. The events that happen after midnight are still being disputed, but it seems as if one single male suspect could have done it. In front of the condo, near the gate, Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman are brutally slain with what appeared to be a single-edged sharp weapon. Nicole suffered severe stab wounds in her head and neck. It is apparent that the suspect struggled with Ron Goldman, who is repeatedly stabbed thirty-three times. (Linder) As identified by Nicole’s Akita, who is saturated in blood, a neighbor is lead to the scene of the murder. Upon this find, the ill-fated investigation of the double murder begins. After examining the Brentwood crime scene, LAPD detectives make the decision to contact Orenthal regarding the murder. To do so, the detectives go to Mr. Simpsons house in Rockingham. The connection of O.J. Simpson and the murder became real when Mark Fuhrman, Los Angeles Homicide Detective, finds blood scattered inside and outside a white Ford Bronco on Simpson’s property. As a result, the four detectives make the decision to enter O.J.’s property without a search warrant due to the exigent circumstances.
