You just washed your hair, and it's already feeling like it needs a good wash again. When your hair becomes greasy a day or so after washing it, you probably have what is referred to as oily hair. Oily hair is caused by excessive oil production. Hormonal changes, stress, poor hair care, eating an excess amount of foods that are oily, or even your family's genes may be the culprit for your oily hair. Regardless of the reason, you want to look your best. People with oily hair need a solvent type of shampoo that will cut the grease without the harsh ingredients in most shampoos. Normal hair needs to remain at a pH between 4.5 to 6.7. Oily hair requires more alkaline, base, products with a pH of 6.7 or higher, or as opposite as it may sound, an acidic rinse decreases the oil.

Some easy steps to start with are to remember to rinse thoroughly to avoid soap residue that will build up on your scalp and actually attract more oil and dirt. Ditch the conditioners that coat your hair. Just apply a small amount of conditioner to your ends. Don't brush your hair too much since combing and brushing pulls oil out of the scalp and distributes it throughout the rest of the hair. These small yellow citrus fruits also promote healthy hair by delivering vitamins and minerals. The acidic properties in lemons help to balance the scalp's pH level which, in turn, will help control oil secretion. Lemons are useful in alleviating scalp and hair problems.
