How bad can oil spilling be to the environment? Oil spills are bad for oceans, rivers, animals, fish, and birds that live in and around it. What we are going to go over is how they happen, how bad they are, and how they clean the mess up.
“Oil spills are commonly occurred by the mistakes of men” (Oil Spills). The careless mistakes of bad maintains on vessels and equipment has played a part in a lot of oil spill accidents.”Some other oil spilling is when people do not want to pay for somebody to come and get it so they just dump it somewhere or some companies do the same thing” (Oil Spills. “Others is when transported from other country’s tankers, barges or refineries” (Hunt, James). Some other things are deep down on the ocean floor where the pipe lines are sucking the oil out of the ground the pipes can burst or the bolts can burst of too much water pressure on it. Most oil spills are accidents that are made by men, well “machinery can break down, which causes it to spill out in the surrounding environment” (Hunt, James). Oil stations out in the ocean that sucks the oil from the ocean floor can make big oil spills by machinery breaking down, catch fire, or gaskets that blow off that gets too hot and can blow the whole place up or catch the whole place on fire or could spray oil out of pipes and big barriers where the oil is holding at.
How bad is oil spills? Well bad it is, it is “by far the world’s most disastrous marine pollution” (Oil Spills). Oil spills can “literally wipe off different types of marine life like fishes, plants, and algae in within a few hours” and can kill other organisms that is around it or near by the spill.
Oil does not just harm marine life and plants it can harm birds and sea turtles....

...he pipe is sucking the oil out of and if it bust they cannot go down there and fix it by hand. The reason why is it is at the ocean floor and we cannot go fix it because it has too much presser all the way down there at the bottom.
So the way they fix the pipe is by these big robot control things in the control room so they drop it into the ocean and it dives all the way down to the bottom of the ocean. When it gets there which take a while to get there, the robot that they have down there has everything to lights, has robotic hands that has tools and the hand have a very strong grip on it. So wants it’s down there the control room tries to plug the leak all up and stop it from spilling out.

April 20, 2010, a tragic disaster struck the Gulf Coast. British Petroleum deepwater Horizon oil rig cracked from three places and raw oil leaking into the sea. .it was considered that over 60,000 barrels of oil a day are mixing with Gulf water and Oil spread over 70 miles to 130 miles into the sea and can be seen from space.
On April 20, 2010, a tragic disaster hit the Gulf Coast. British Petroleum’s (BP) Deepwater Horizon rig exploded spewing crude oil into the ocean from the three major cracks in the rig. It rivaled the 1989 Exxon Valdez spill within days of explod...

The 2010 BP oil spill ultimately affected both people and the environment, polluting and damaging large areas and vast populations of wildlife. The BP oil spill caused took a toll on marine life, human life, and the economy, including the fishing and tourism industry in the Gulf of Mexico. Many factors such as Petroleum toxicity, oxygen depletion, and much more can be viewed as the major sources of the disaster which led to the negative impact on wildlife. It is very clear that an oil spill is recognized to be a disaster for both for people and the environment, any tragedy of this scale would clearly bring forth regulations that will attempt to prohibit the same calamity from happening again.
Ocean Pollution is a serious issue in today's global politics. The delicate balance of Earth's ecosystem is put in jeopardy when the ocean is not clean. Problem evolving from ocean pollution directly harm marine life and indirectly affect human health and the Earth's many valuable resources. Ocean Pollution is a Broad term that encpompasses any and all foregin matter that directly or indirectly makes its way into the ocean. This includes everything from the extreme: oil spills, Toxic Waste dumping and industrial dumping-- to the small scael: human activities and basic carelessness. Because the oceans and all other water bodies are invariably, somehow connected, and because they account for 3/4 of the Earth's surface, they are an ideal method of transportation for pollution, allowing the rapid spread of seemingly far away toxins into a river near you! It is increasingly important that we educate ourselves as to what, exactly, ocean pollution is, so that we can identify the causes at their source and take action in small and large ways, and hopefully, prevent this terrible form of pollution from getting any worse than it is today.

The key to reducing and eventually eliminating marine pollution is for everyone to be aware of the detrimental types of marine pollution, which are nutrient loading and sedimentation, sewage and human non degradable waste, and petroleum

The oil spill that took place in spring 2010 was a tragedy, but we can’t dwell on the past. As a nation we have the responsibility of moving on and finding a solution to the problem. Even though at this point in time the government is not allowing the people to participate in the clean up of the oil we can still contribute via small actions such as volunteering to clean up oiled wildlife or clean up your local beach and hopefully in time they will allow us to provide larger contributions. You must also understand the this was caused because we as humans in the technological age require the use of oil for our daily needs. If people found a safer less toxic approach perhaps we can avoid such disasters in the future. At the end of the day it is our Earth and we must take good care of it if we want to continue to inhabitant it.
The ecological effects to the wetlands and the Gulf of Mexico were substantial. Once oil invades an ecosystem, depending on how heavy the amount has accumulated, the exposure can destroy that area. Wetlands and estuaries are very susceptible to oil. The immediate damage is devastating, however the long term effects on the system may completely destroy that wetland area or estuary (Copeland and Corn
The author of “Short-term Effects of an oil spill on marsh-edge fishes and decapod crustaceans” Agatha- Marie F. Roth and Robert W. Dicky author of “FDA risk assesment of seafood contamination after BP oil spill” both agree on the fact that oil spills harm marine ecosystems. In Roth's article she explains that the interaction of oil, decapods, and crustaceans in spatial and temporal ecosystems is damaging not only to the environment but also to the organisms that live there (565 Roth). This example from Roth’s article conveys the fact that there is an effect to marine ecosystems. The unknown however is the severity of the damage caused by oil spills, which both Roth and Dicky agree upon. Unlike Roth, Dicky is more focused on the risk this poses to human health rather than the ecosystem. Dicky explains that there is a health risk posed to humans that consume fish that have been in contact with oil and have retained hydrocarbons from the oil. He discusses a research case by the FDA where they did an
Oil spills and pollution can be the cause of death too much of the local marine life. An oil slick can cover up to 50 square miles polluting, and damaging all the ecosystems in which the marine life thrives killing thousands. All over the ocean surface and all over the land near the spill will be contaminated with crude oil ruin the lives of many of the animals near or who feed of the animals who were less fortunate not to make it out of the spill un effected.
Oil spills is contamination of the environment, especially marine area due to oil spillage from various kind of sources. The world production of crude oil increases from 59 million barrels at year 1980 to 79 million barrels at year 2015.
