Fahrenheit 451 was published in 1953 and was written by Ray Bradbury. This futuristic book talks about a future world where books and free thought are replaced with electronics. It seemed like a pretty far off world in 1953 but now that it is 2016 we are starting to see this story become a reality. In the book there are many different technologies that were not around, but now they have become a large part of our lives, like cell phones or flat-screen TV’s. Also firemen have begun to start fires to get rid of books instead of putting them out. Thinking for yourself has become a rare privilege and sadly those who do are persecuted for it. Technology is a very good resource for the human race and can help us in many ways, but if we don’t take proper precautions and take advantage of it then there will be consequences as are evident today. There are so many electronics out there and people are always going for the newest and best one available, it has become like a status symbol for our generation. People are also spending less and less time reading and thinking for themselves and letting our technology do it for us, it’s helpful, but just like to much of anything it can hurt us if we over use it like we currently are. Our governments are fully aware of technology and its impacts and just like in the book they use it to distract us from what we truly think and possibly pointing out what governments do wrong. Technology is replacing people in our lives and the human race is becoming more and more anti-social.
