I have always been fascinated with the medical field ever since I was little, my first choice for electives were always health science and anatomy classes. After my cousin, Deanna, had her first child and receive her first ultrasound, I knew that was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. The ultrasound technician had made her feel so comforted and just made the entire experience enjoyable for everyone; I’m eager to be able to start my life with a job that I know I will love. Anytime that I meet someone who is in the field themselves, I always ask questions and listen to what they do throughout the day to get some real insight on what being a technician really entails.

Ever since I was a young girl, I’ve always known that I wanted to be in a career that involved helping people. I believe that entering a career as a Diagnostic Ultrasound Technician will help me fulfill my desire to help others. I have come to realize the great importance that early detection plays in the medical field. Early detection is key to fixing a problem before it gets worse.It would be extremely fulfilling to have a career that may potentially stop a small health issue from becoming a life-threatening illness. In order to become an ultrasound technician you need to advance your schooling beyond high school. It really just depends on what you are willing to do. You can go to college anywhere from 1 to 4 years and beyond. 1-2 years would be your associates. Which is the bare minimum. 3-4 years would be your bachelors. Often times people with higher degree levels will also get paid a higher salary than those who are just working with the bare minimum. The more after graduate schooling you take the higher the rate of pay will be.
