I enjoyed Divergent because it always left me wanting to read more and I never wanted to put it down! There are many qualities I admire about the characters in this story. One character I admire is Tris. I admire her bravery and determination. Also i admire how she does not do what others expect of her. An example of her determination is when she is told she must be ranked in the top 10 in Dauntless or else she would become factionless. As a result, she works harder than any other dauntless to earn her spot. Although she wasn't as strong, or as talented as the others this zealous character put in a lot of work and in the end she reached the number one rank. Another character I admire is Four. The qualities I admire about Four is his strength and his thick-skinned personality and he always puts on a brave face. Also I admire his care for others, although he didn't let other see it. The last quality …show more content…
This character was as tough as nails and he had only four fears, which is where his name came from. He was very tough on towards Tris and punished her when she spoke up. Also he didn’t care for anyone else. Towards the end of the story Four shows that he cares for Tris and saves her when other Dauntless members try to kill her. Also he opens up to her about his fears and tells her about his past which was, he had a tough childhood and was abused by his father. He even tells Tris that he is the divergent as well, and in the end Tris and Four fall in love. When I reached the end of the book, the traits Four developed would seemed unimaginable to someone who has only read the beginning. I definitely did not expect to see Four change because he seemed to be a very inexpressive person who possessed no feelings and was unqualified for love. Four’s change was definitely unpredictable but without it he wouldn't have become the admirable character I view him as now, after reading the
The book had a few characters that I liked, but a lot of characters that I disliked. For example Yasmine was a character that I disliked. I didn’t like her because she brought pain to Paige’s life. Yasmine and Paige were best friends for months in Sixth grade. They were constantly doing fun activities together, like having sleepovers or planning each other’s birthday parties, but all that was ruined by a mistake Yasmine made. Paige and Yasmine were at a school dance, when
This is probably due to his all-around personality. I really enjoyed when Lincoln(28-year-old man) went into the break room and Doris(60-year-old lady) was restocking the vending machines. Lincoln offered her some of his mom’s favourite food when he saw her eating a turkey sandwich. This spiraled into a relationship which would be worth it at the end of the book. Not only do I think this character isn’t flawed but every character was extremely well thought out. The personalities stayed realistic and there wasn’t an action that distracted me from reading. If I could change something about Lincoln it would be courageous, to not procrastinate. I’m saying this because Lincoln almost lost the Beth and Doris had to come and save his little behind. He keeps saying I’m going to talk to her, I’m going to talk to her but he never did and instead wrote a note when he quit. Doris came in like the knight in shining armour, bragged about Lincoln to Beth. One character that reminded me of someone I knew was Dean. If Alan was to grow up Dean’s personality would be extremely similar to Alan’s. I say this because of how is extremely outgoing, a lady’s man, then finally settles down with one lady after being through god knows how many
It’s a novel that has a little bit of everything for everybody. The only reason I didn’t give the it a 10/10 is because it’s hard to nail down who the main characters are (even though I would argue that with so many great characters, there really doesn’t need to be a main character), and there are some sexual scenes in the novel I found to be semi-unnecessary, which might make some people dislike the whole story. However, I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who want a genuinely fantastic story to read, people interested in a novel full of vibrant, realistic, and sometimes flawed (in a good way) characters, or anyone with some time to kill for long stretches, because they won’t want to put this book
matures and becomes a better person, facts from the book show just the opposite. Henry
the evil in the characters comes out. Throughout all three of the stories, the reader realizes that
...d his character to become more dynamic, as opposed to be viewed by the reader as just another minor character in the novel.
Divergent most defiantly should stay on the reading list; it provides life lessons, amazing reviews and appeals to large group as well as gives great character depth. Where everything connects seamlessly to its audience and helps to carry out its meaningful messages. All the while romance and action captures the extra portions of readers whom as well love this book just as much as the rest of its fellow readers. Divergent clearly should stay on the reading list because of its wealth of entertainment and gives its audience a new perspective on things.
This book has great balances of love interests, actions, and internal conflict with characters. It has an interesting story so far with new pieces coming up every few chapters that are very important. Like Al attacking Tris, Eric talking about Divergents and how the rebels must be eliminated. Tris and Four are developing feelings for each other, which I find weird because he is basically her teacher. They are only two years apart, so the relationship is not that awkward. In this journal I will be predicting, evaluating, and questioning.
Many times when reading a novel, the reader connects with one of the characters and begins to sympathize with them. This could be because the reader understands what the character is going through or because we get to see things from the character’s perspective and their emotions and that in return allows a bond to form for the reader. The character that is the most intriguing for me and the one I found comparing to every book that I read during school was Stacey from the book “Ravensong” Lee Maracle. The character Stacey goes through a lot of internal battle with herself and it’s on her path to discovery that she begins to understand herself and what she’s capable of. Throughout the novel, Stacey has a few issues she tries to work through.
To conclude, the characters Jeannette Walls and Melba Patillo display both similar and different characteristics. The traits that they retain effected their stories in many ways, and ultimately determined the outcome of them. Since Jeannette showed ambition towards her future, it lead her to become successful, making the story end positive. As for Melba, her courageousness and determination towards ending segregation created an inspirtational environment to readers. Overall, the characteristics of a character can create vivid images for readers, making reading an interesting experience.
Frederick Henry achieved the six code hero characteristics by the end of the novel with the help of Catherine, a code hero herself. All the characteristics seem to follow the path of a manly person who is continuously striving to live his/her life to the fullest.
effect on the theme of these four stories. The four stories illustrate mans inherent evil through characters, setting and actions.
boy attitude and tough outside, while also having a good heart and a caring personality. His character brings out the reader’s ‘id’ as Freud would say. It brings out the naughtiness inside the reader’s personality, while still making him lovable because he is really a good person on the inside.
2. The character of Teiresias should be discussed in your conclusion since he embodies the truth about the absolute finality of fate, which is exactly what the other three characters failed to see.
...ne as a young innocent child. Throughout the story he changes physically, mentally, and emotionally from a young child to an old man, which makes him a dynamic character. He became a very dynamic character because he found a need for materialistic things such as statues and homes such as Xanadu, his large home on a vast plot of secluded land. Through materialism, Kane became a self invested individual.
