Obesity is an epidemic and affects millions of people of the nation of the United States every day. This health problem affects everybody not only adults .Obesity has increased in the past decade, particularly people with this problem eat a lot and use poorly devise diets. What causes obesity? What are some of the solutions for this problem? What do you say about a person with a BMI greater than 40%?
Americans are becoming more obese due to the challenges of the economy because healthy food is overpriced, fast food restaurants at every corner, and not enough motivation to exercise. If we are going to make a change, we need to take baby steps. A healthy world is a happy world. Did you know, that obesity and overweight account for nearly one of every 10 American deaths, and they also drain our society of $223 billion a year? This simply means that obesity is the cause of most deaths in America.
The rise of obesity in the United States has posed health and financial problems for this country that need to be dealt with. It is said that an obesity epidemic is sweeping the country and that the numbers are astronomical. Approximately 31% of all adults and 15% of children, ages 6-19 are obese. Obesity is also severe in a variety of ethnic groups. For example, 50% of non-Hispanic black women are obese.
Most of the 800 million people in developing countries that suffer from malnutrition are women and children. Many of these malnourished women and children die from either infection diseases, or parasitic. Developing countries children are the most vulnerable groups that suffer from hunger. These children suffer from low height for their age, low weight for their age, and low weight for ... ... middle of paper ... ...e it would make if every time you went to the market you purchased one or two extra items and placed them in that food bin for the hungry. Now just think what a difference it would make if every person, that had the ability to do so, made this same donation weekly, now that could make a difference.
First of all, obesity is the biggest leading cause of health problems. Daynard states, “Overweight and obese people are developing diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and other medical conditions in huge numbers” (298). Many Americans die every year due to their health condition just for one simple cause. Not eating healthy can lead to many negative effect such as high blood pressure leading you to feel weak all the time, due to lack of nutrients in your body. It makes the heart increase its work, making it faster than it should.
One of the biggest problems of humanity nowadays is obesity. From some years until now, humans have been suffering from this eating disorder with more frequency. Obesity is when one has too much body fat, and is unable either by genetic or environmental factors to control it. This problem has become more frequent as the society of today is all about consumption, fast food, calories and lack of exercise, as a simple machine is able to do everything one is too lazy to do. This is a problem because worldwide obesity has nearly doubled since 1980 and obesity is the fifth leading risk of global deaths.
If there’s enough food in the world to feed everybody, then why are there so many starving and malnourished people? Millions people are dying from starvation every day. We need to find a way to end world hunger. Starvation is a major global issue due to overpopulation. There are currently over 800 million people suffering from starvation or malnutrition.
The government can also stop the world from being obese by closing all fast food restaurants. Globally , there are more than 1 billion overweight adults , at least 300 million of them are obese. Obesity can be prevented by less calorie intake and more physical activity.Obesity is a complex condition , with serious social and psychological dimensions affecting all ages. Besides getting fatter we are also developing more metabolic disorders such as Type 2 diabetes , This is marked by hormonal abnormalities in the processing and storage of nutrients. Type two diabetes is now commonly found in more children as young as eight.
3.1 million children are dying of hunger. “About 21,000 people die every day of hunger-related causes, according to the United Nations” (Poverty). “There are still an estimated 868 million people who are undernourished and more than 100 million children under age 5 who are ;undernourished and underweight” (Bread). The amount of people hungry is decreasing 37% since 1990, but it needs to end. More jobs need to be created by opening shelters and letting the people that need jobs work there and then get paid., there need to be more food shelters and the government needs to make healthier food easier to access to
In most of the cases, it is still hard to determine the exact causation of obesity. This epidemic has been increasing throughout the industrialized world. In less than 40 years, the prevalence of obesity in the U.S. has increased by over 50%, so that two of every three American adults are now overweight or obese (Obesity in America, 5). Most obvious consequences of obesity are diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease, but cancer, arthritis, and depression are other serious factors to health. All in all, obesity and over weight account for nearly one of every 10 American deaths, and they also drain our society of $223 billion a year (Obesity in America, 5).
