Obesity in Havering is positively correlated with measures of child poverty and child deprivation and the high prevalence of ethnic minorities. Havering has seen the highest percentage increase between 2001 Census and 2011 Census with ethnic minorities population increasing from 8% in 2001 to 12% in 2011(Joint Strategic Needs Assessment ,2016). Despite the increase the percentage of ethnic minority groups remains relatively low compared to other London boroughs such as Newham and Redbridge respectively.
