Health and Human Services Social Work is growing now a day due because of poverty, which is why there is a big demand for social workers. It is a very dedicated job and stressful at the same time. Social work is for people who want to help people, also because of all the clients you ended up having some of the client’s do not appreciate what you are doing for them and get violent start threaten you, or getting physical. Some social workers have so much work that they even have to work weekends and night hour’s just to catch up with the work load. They do get lots of clients so there is lots of work to be done, these is another reason why is very stressful job. We need more social workers of all kinds for example; justice, hospitals, clinics, family and teenagers, hospice, adults, jails, public health, and school social worker, mental health, child protective agencies and substance abuse social workers. Being a social worker you can go into lots of different fields not just on one degree but different ones. Also you help all kinds of different people races, beliefs, and situations. Social workers are a huge part of our community everywhere because they help us in lots of ways and get us to where we need to go. A social worker does the most challenging job she or he has to be able to solve problems and be good at it. He or she has to have a trust and connection with the client, especially with children at risk and young people of our community. They have a unique role that will let those help families in need. Many people don’t know that social workers deal with more mental health than any psychologist, psychiatrist and psychiatric nurses combined. Interesting right? I would definitely have thought otherwise. Social work is a very unique field that is overlooked and should have quite a bit more appreciation than it does. Making it in the real world is tough but thanks to social work peoples civil rights are protected, people with mental illnesses are now able to afford humane treatment and society is more in tune with preventing child abuse and neglect. Social Workers are very important to everyday life. They are the ones that help people in need when they have nobody else to turn too. Also, they provide resources and better understanding of predicaments that you could be experiencing. I will reflect on how the class has affected me, my own experiences and how some theories have connected to my life experiences, and lastly, if the class helped toward my major. This class is important for someone that wants to become a social worker and wants to learn about the different theories used. Also, learning about me during this process of completing this class is fun and a way to see if the social work profession is right for me. There was many theories explained throughout this class but many will not be said because it wasn’t the main points that I was trying to get across. There are two tools that are used that can help a social worker organize a client’s life: Bubble map and Briefcase exercise. There are so many different ways a social worker can help a client deal with their problems and come up with a solution. It is up to that social worker to identify the client’s problem and see what theory fits.

I always knew that my calling was to help and advocate for populations in my community that were vulnerable and often forgotten.
Social work as a profession strives to help the welfare of those within the community whether its persons or families through advocacy. Often times clients are those who may be vulnerable and disadvantaged. Social workers aim to help people fulfill basic needs in their everyday lives and assist them by providing beneficial resources and intervention counseling. They do more than just help them in their current situation, it’s about helping them to survive and set attainable goals to live a fuller and better life for themselves, and most time for their families.

There are four different levels of education In social work; bachelors, masters, clinical and advanced generalist. In the future, social workers have a bright future, especially in regards to military and veteran affiliations. The military is a consistently growing field in our nation, we will always need members of our society to protect and serve to defend our freedom. In that sense, there will also be times that those brave soldiers will need to retire and they need kind social workers to help them in their transitions from military to civilian life, as it can surely be difficult. I would to begin this paper with an authentic definition of the Social Work field. Social work practices involves facilitating change—in other words, working with others, not doing something to them or for them(Dubois). Most people and social workers would always use the world ‘help’ in some way or form when defining social workers. Which is true but the confusion come in when asked where they work, who they assist and how they differ from other helping professions. Social workers can be sustain abuse therapists, child welfare specialists, and school social workers. We are not limited to just the department of social services. They can work in nursing homes, hospitals, and even in legislation.

My understanding about the social work profession is one that works with a diverse group of people to better their well-being in all aspects. Social workers requires: responsibility, passion, and knowledge. The social worker has to understand their own personal cultural values, beliefs, and appreciate the multicultural identities of different people. The profession of social worker requires a lot of skills because they have different tasks and responsibilities. They are aware of social policies and programs for the diverse clients advocating.
