2. There are some impacts of the effects that obesity has on sex. Some include low self-esteem, body image issues, low testosterone, erectile dysfunction, diabetes, less stamina, and etc. It has been said in an article, Obesity Affects Sex Quality and Quantity, from The Observer, that people that are over weight seem to have a lower sex drive due to their self esteem and body issues that they have developed. In the article it is said that men who are obese are more likely to have higher blood pressure and diabetes than those of a normal weight, both diseases are harmful to the body and they can cause erectile dysfunction (ED) and Candida, which is a vaginal infection, in women. The article explained that from the lack of blood flow it causes ED because not enough blood is able to circulate from the body and into the penis to cause an erection, and if an erection is obtained it is considered a weak erection. The body image issue and self esteem issues seem to effect the men and women equally, it seems that the issues that they have with themselves seems to translate into their sexual health. An article, For Obese, Intimate Lives Often Suffer, from National Public Radio (NPR), enlightened the feeling from an obese female named Dana Englehardt, she said that she was dissatisfied with her sex life because she was afraid to be intimate with her husband because she was embarrassed of her stomach and her lack of sexual desire. She would intentionally avoid sexual contact with her husband because of her obesity. Along in the same article from NPR, it said that men with higher weight seemed to have a decrease in the amount of testosterone they produce, which lead to their unsatisfactory arousal and sexual desire and tend to have ED.
