OBAMACARE AS SOCIAL ISSURE Many people look at Obamacare as a political issue I look at as a social issue. A person not having health issuance has been an issue for a long time. Many presidents have tried to fix the health care in American but have failed. When I look at Obamacare I see United States broking down into social class. We have been studying Social Stratification Obamacare is a prime example of this concept. I am lucky Obamacare does not affect me I have Insurance form serving in the Armed Forces, but for many Americans Obamacare is a slap in there face. In this paper I plan showing how it hurts Americans instead of help them, and how Other nations have fixed there health care in there counties , I will also show how Washington is disconnected with the American public I will also give some of my ideals how to fix health care. First I would like to show how Obamacare is slap in the face of many Americans. I went to Az on spring break to visit my mother she lives in a retirement community. I had this paper in mind when I was there so I started talking to some of her neighbors about health insurance. I figure who better to ask then the elder about health care. The ones that was not old enough for Medicaid had the most to say. This are the ones who are retired but are not older this sixty five yet. They had worked hard all their life to retire early. Most where mad because the health insurance they had because of their Jobs had been cancelled. Which made them go looking for insurance a couple of them said there insurance was marked up almost 700 dollars a month because of health problems they had. I said wait doesn’t Obamacare say that insurance company cannot deny you. They said that is true but they can look at ... ... middle of paper ... ...state does. the states would take the money for the sales taxes make all doctors and hospital free for every one come in monitor them and police the hospital to make sure the states not over paying for something. The down side we would have to pay a 20% sales tax. The people who paid for private insurance would get 50% of what they paid in sales tax back a year. The other 50% would go to help cover everyone else health care. So in conclusion I feel Obamacare is unfair to the middle class and lower class. It is huge bill writing by politicians that are disconnected with the American public. That is empowering large insurance company with something the government should be doing. Those other nations have made work for their public. Obamacare makes many Americans lives harder than they should be. Obamacare shows the difference in the American class structure.
One of the most controversial topics in the United States in recent years has been the route which should be undertaken in overhauling the healthcare system for the millions of Americans who are currently uninsured. It is important to note that the goal of the Affordable Care Act is to make healthcare affordable; it provides low-cost, government-subsidized insurance options through the State Health Insurance Marketplace (Amadeo 1). Our current president, Barack Obama, made it one of his goals to bring healthcare to all Americans through the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010. This plan, which has been termed “Obamacare”, has come under scrutiny from many Americans, but has also received a large amount of support in turn for a variety of reasons. Some of these reasons include a decrease in insurance discrimination on the basis of health or gender and affordable healthcare coverage for the millions of uninsured. The opposition to this act has cited increased costs and debt accumulation, a reduction in employer healthcare coverage options, as well as a penalization of those already using private healthcare insurance.
The topic that I am choosing to do is on Obama Care. I chose this topic because the idea of the government forcing people to obtain insurance is wrong in my eyes. I am interested in analyzing the validity for what has been said about this topic in order to increase my understanding about Obama Care. I am not an expert when it comes to Obama Care. I know that this is an insurance that is being provided through the government for the general public. I have read that President Obama never initially read the whole bill itself. I also know that people who cannot afford it, but make too much money to qualify for Medicaid are being heavily encouraged to get this insurance. Some of the common knowledge that I have found that the general public has about this subject is that some people are for Obama Care and think that it is a wonderful idea and that there are some people that are dead set against Obama Care. Younger adults, specifically college age and individuals that are in their twenties tend to be for Obama Care. The insurance is being forced upon individuals that may or may not want it. It also seems as though that the insurance being offered is pretty generic in terms of coverage. Some of the questions that I have that I believe will aide me in writing this paper would be the following: What are the pros and cons of Obama Care? What are the thoughts of Obama Care with the people of the government? As well as what are the basics of Obama Care?
Healthcare has been a topic of discussion with the majority of the country. Issues with insurance coverage, rising costs, limited options to gain coverage, and the quality of healthcare have become concerns for law makers, healthcare providers and the general public. Some of those concerns were alleviated with the passing of the Affordable Care Act, but new concerns have developed with problems that have occurred in the implementation of the new law. The main concerns of the country are if the Affordable Care Act will be able to overcome the issues that plagued the old healthcare system, the cost of the program, and how will the new law affect the quality of the health delivery system.
...s quite a smart idea for us to having something as a backup plan because who knows what could potentially happen if we don’t have it where can lead to a serious turmoil. But let’s be real clear on this every American needs Health Insurance Despite the circumstances of what it can have on everyone we should have it reguardless. If the Companies are willing to provide a less expensive one then what’s the reason to overcharge us for it.in all honestly The Healthcare companies want individuals to choose what they feel is best for them and what it can offer for support in giving them the right benefits to obtain for their life. Why should American settle for less when they can settle better to have the best.as individuals we need to understand that its healthcare Companies is not based on the name it’s all about what you’re able to afford and how much can it cover in orde
In recent years, the number of Americans who are uninsured has reached over 45 million citizens, with millions more who only have the very basic of insurance, effectively under insured. With the growing budget cuts to medicaid and the decreasing amount of employers cutting back on their health insurance options, more and more americans are put into positions with poor health care or no access to it at all. At the heart of the issue stems two roots, one concerning the morality of universal health care and the other concerning the economic effects. Many believe that health care reform at a national level is impossible or impractical, and so for too long now our citizens have stood by as our flawed health-care system has transformed into an unfixable mess. The good that universal healthcare would bring to our nation far outweighs the bad, however, so, sooner rather than later, it is important for us to strive towards a society where all people have access to healthcare.
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act passed by President Barack Obama is a significant change of the American healthcare system since insurance plans programs like Medicare and Medicaid (“Introduction to”). As a result, “It is also one of the most hotly contested, publicly maligned, and politically divisive pieces of legislation the country has ever seen” (“Introduction to”). The Affordable Care Act should be changed because it grants the government too much control over the citizen’s healthcare or the lack of individual freedom to choose affordable health insurance.
If the United States had unlimited funds, the appropriate response to such a high number of mentally ill Americans should naturally be to provide universal coverage that doesn’t discriminate between healthcare and mental healthcare. The United States doesn’t have unlimited funds to provide universal healthcare at this point, but the country does have the ability to stop coverage discrimination. A quarter of the 15.7 million Americans who received mental health care listed themselves as the main payer for the services, according to one survey that looked at those services from 2005 to 2009. 3 Separate research from the same agency found 45 percent of those not receiving mental health care listing cost as a barrier.3 President Obama and the advisors who helped construct The Affordable Care Act recognized the problem that confronts the mentally ill. Mental healthcare had to be more affordable and different measures had to be taken to help patients recover. Although The Affordable Care Act doesn’t provide mentally ill patients will universal coverage, the act has made substantial changes to the options available to them.
Taxes in relation to the new healthcare reform is a prominent topic when one examines the supporting and opposing sides of the law. New taxes on businesses producing medical equipment and new Medicare taxes on investments have been established. For individuals and businesses choosing not to participate in purchasing health insurance there will be a penalty called a "shared responsibility" tax. The accrued money from these taxes is being used, among other things, to provide low-cost insurance plans on the marketplace and to create subsidies for those purchasing the plans. Through these subsidies, "any individual making up to $45,960 or a family of four with household income up to $94,200 is eligible" ("Obamacare tax guide") to qualify and get assistance at the end of each year to off-set the cost of the insurance even more...
The Affordable Care Act, more commonly known as Obamacare, is a new health policy created by the American federal government. Its purpose is to make healthcare more affordable and friendly for the people. Unfortunately in some way that does not prove to be the case. It is becoming apparent that Obama may have made some misleading statements to help get the ACA put into action. The ACA is sprinkled with many flaws that call for a reform such as people’s current plans being terminated, high costs, and at minimum some people’s hours being cut by their employers.
There is an ongoing debate on the topic of how to fix the health care system in America. Some believe that there should be a Single Payer system that ensures all health care costs are covered by the government, and the people that want a Public Option system believe that there should be no government interference with paying for individual’s health care costs. In 1993, President Bill Clinton introduced the Health Security Act. Its goal was to provide universal health care for America. There was a lot of controversy throughout the nation whether this Act was going in the right direction, and in 1994, the Act died. Since then there have been multiple other attempts to fix the health care situation, but those attempts have not succeeded. The Affordable Care Act was passed in the senate on December 24, 2009, and passed in the house on March 21, 2010. President Obama signed it into law on March 23 (Obamacare Facts). This indeed was a step forward to end the debate about health care, and began to establish the middle ground for people in America. In order for America to stay on track to rebuild the health care system, we need to keep going in the same direction and expand our horizons by keeping and adding on to the Affordable Care Act so every citizen is content.
Health insurance, too many American citizens, is not an option. However, some citizens find it unnecessary. Working in the health care field, I witness the effects of uninsured patients on medical offices. Too often, I see a “self-pay” patient receive care from their doctor and then fail to pay for it. Altogether, their refusal to pay leaves the office at a loss of money and calls for patients to pay extra in covering for the cost of the care the uninsured patient received. One office visit does not seem like too big of an expense, but multiple patients failing to pay for the care they receive adds up. Imagine the hospital bills that patients fail to pay; health services in a hospital are double, sometimes triple, in price at a hospital. It is unfair that paying patients are responsible for covering these unpaid services. Luckily, the Affordable Care Act was passed on March 23, 2010, otherwise known as Obamacare. Obamacare is necessary in America because it calls for all citizens to be health insured, no worrying about pre-existing conditions, and free benefits for men and women’s health.
Less than a quarter of uninsured Americans believe the Affordable Care Act is a good idea. According to experts, more than 87 million Americans could lose their current health care plan under the Affordable Care Act. This seems to provide enough evidence that the Affordable Care Act is doing the exact opposite of what Democrats promised it would do. On the other hand, this law includes the largest health care tax cut in history for middle class families, helping to make insurance much more affordable for millions of families. The Affordable Care Act has been widely discussed and debated, but remains widely misunderstood.
As previously stated it does not, however, mean that Healthcare is free, nor does it mean that everyone will get every type of testing available. Regardless of which type of healthcare system America has people have always been left behind. The “Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care act.” Is structured to incorporate an integrated system that would essentially be Universal Healthcare. That would also mean that an insured person 's rates would not be increased to cover the uninsured. Universal Healthcare is a moral and just obligation. By promoting the health of our citizens, we then promote our infrastructure as well. Although it is not free and it will take time and effort to implement. It is worth an extra tax and the extra effort to ensure a Healthy and prosperous
Obama Affordable Care Act presents a reasonable approach to effectively address this challange by building on the current system. This new policy will implement multiple strategies that include strengthening empolyer-based coverage (pay or play), expanding and funding public coverage, and creating a new national purchasing pool offering a range of health plan options for individuals and businesses. Although expanding pulic coverage sounds a great way to cover a huge number of people, it will impose two problems. The first one will be obtaining enough funding resorces, and second will be providing equal and fair health care services to all Americans. Otherwise this will be a different form of socializing medicine where beneficiaries will have very lousy insurane that is not accepted by many healthcare providers and will leave people on a long waiting lists to get any medical service.
We are the wealthiest country yet we don’t have free universal health coverage. The insurance companies are attempting to manage cost through price controls and we’re still having to pay out of pocket for a lot of the expenses. Personally I think that The Obama Care (and the Affordable Care Act) will have little to no effect on me until maybe later in life because the insurance I have works great for me. I do have to meet my deductible every year, and it depends on which doctor I go to if I have a copay or
