I can say it was a wonderful semester because she helped me to see what I can expect from nursing school and nursing career. How balancing my study and family, and how to manage my time. The most important point she showed me how to planning for my success in nursing school. By pushing students solely on their ability to achieve a good HESI Exit Exam score they may be misusing students time by repeated test taking allowing them to progress to being able to take the NCLEX-RN. Spurlock points out that the only score that has some statistical signifigance is the first HESI Exit Exam score. By allowing multiple retakes of that test to achieve a passing score is not actually doing them getting students to prepare for taking the NCLEX-RN as shown by the results that were documented. His final conclusion seems to be an apt way to conclude on the effectiveness of NCLEX-RN prep done by nursing schools. “Focusing on studying for an exit examination that has little use in predicting NCLEX-RN failure seems a poor use of end-of-program students’ time.”

Certifications for nurses recognize their knowledge and skills within a specific area. In fact, nurses with certifications in special areas earn more than those who aren’t certified. The National Center for Competency testing, or NCCT, has been operating since 1989. They are an organization that test healthcare professionals and instructors to provide them with the correct credentialing for their field of work. They provide multiple qualifying paths for certification in medical assisting, medical office assisting, insurance and coding specialist, ECG technicians, Phlebotomy Technicians, patient care technicians, surgical technologists, and post secondary instructors. They have different exam prices for all the above professions and they are organized by different routes. .

When a medical assistant passes the NCCT they will become a Nationally Certified Medical Assistant. There are 3 routes of eligibility to take the NCMA exam. First route; must be a current student in the Medical Assisting program from an NCCT authorized school or graduated from a Medical Assistant program from an NCCT authorized school, within the past 5 years. The successful completion of the nursing program and passing the NCLEX is imperative not only to the student but to the faculty as well. The purpose of this retrospective study is to investigate the possible predictors of being accepted in the program, completing the first two semesters of the program and completing the AASN program. This study will research data from 2 entering and graduating classes. The data that will be looked at will include the admission qualifications of the program, grade point averages, course grades in anatomy and physiology, Algebra, English, and computer science. Throughout each semester, I have learned about several medications and how they work within the body, as well as different disease processes that are common among adults, children, and infants. I know, as a nurse, I will continue to learn and gain knowledge about medicine throughout my nursing career. Nursing school has also taught me how to care for all types of individuals. From in-class meetings to clinical hours at the hospital, it has given me the essential tools in order to better care for my patients, such as how to make a bed, give a bed bath, and different interventions to help keep a patient from developing bed sores.
