A very interesting career field that would be good to pursue is Oncology Nursing. Oncology Nurses are nurses that specialize in care for patients that suffer from cancer. This career is interesting because Oncology Nurse is an extremely rewarding job that gives a lot of experience to the people who pursue it. Because cancer is one of the leading causes of death in the United States, many Oncology Nursing jobs are opening yet not enough people are taking them. Oncology Nurses care for cancer patients in hospitals and care facilities or through home-care agencies. General duties of an Oncology Nurse are communicating to the patients about their diagnosis and how it is being treated and help give the patients what they need. They assist the doctors who are treating the patients by arranging what needs to be done. It is very important for Oncology Nurses to keep the patients comfortable. Specific duties of an Oncology Nurse include reviewing health history; keep track of a patient’s mental and physical health; keep track of studies and the outcomes of tests on a patient’s health; control medicine, fluids, chemotherapy, radiation, infusion, and other cancer treatments; help doctors with treatments and plans of treatments, help the patient understand their disease, treatment, and any side effects; and help the patient manage. Oncology Nurses assists doctors and patients. Working as an oncology nurse has been a life changing experience. I have grown not only as a nurse, but also as a person. My eyes have been opened to the value of life, and not just life itself, but the precious thing that is a healthy life. I cannot count the number of patients from the beginning of my nursing career until now that have told me, “Well, I just didn’t think my symptoms were a big deal” or “The doctor told me I needed additional tests but it didn’t seem important at the time and I didn’t have any money”. The lack of patient education and provider follow-up in situations such as these is disheartening to observe. Every kid thinks they know what they want to be when they grow up. It changes over the years though. When I was around seven years old I wanted to be a pop star. This dream was based on a disney channel show called hannah montana, about a teen girl who lives a double life as a pop star. When I was around ten years old I wanted to be an actor on a sit com. Then I discovered basketball. I started playing all the time. I had “hoop dreams” as one would say. I wanted to be a WNBA player. That's what I said when anybody asked. By 9th grade reality caught up to me and I lost touch of that dream. Being a WNBA player would be almost impossible for me. So would playing basketball in college, but I still want to pursue it. I realized I was way behind in terms of basketball skills compared to other girls in the 2018 class. I adopted a love for biology and math. Those tie into what my real dream is.

Nurses will always be a necessary part of the healthcare system, and hospitals are unable to function without large workforce like nursing staff. The profession of nursing also allows the nurse to choose his/her own specialty. Nursing has a phenomenal wide range of choices that one can choose. Labor and Delviery Nursing is a great career to pursue. The career comes with alot of knowledge but with time and patience, anybody can persue it. This job also comes with alot of responsibilities and takes alot of patience but bringing new life into the world can bring so much joy to ones life than anybody could ever imagine.
For my sports medicine profession, I choose nurse practitioner. I was drawn to this occupation simply because of the ability to make a difference in people's lives. Some other contributing factors are the amount of schooling, salary, and leadership responsibilities associated with the job. Many of my family members have gone into nursing and have had a positive experience. Becoming a nurse practitioner requires many years of formal eduction beyond high school. Typically, it usually takes six to eight years of eduction and training to become a nurse practitioner. Nurse practitioners must complete a four-year Bachelor's of science in Nursing (BSN). After earning the BSN, one will need to complete a master's degree program that trains nurse practitioners. Nurse practitioners must also be certified in CPR, AED, and First Aid (Health careers).

The job I have been interested in since I was a freshmen in high school was a registered nurse (RN). I decided to choose this career because when I was a freshman in highschool I tore my ACL for the first time. I avidly want to study nursing. My choice of nursing as a career was inspired by past experiences that made me appreciate the field and its virtues. My mother was an obstetrician-gynecologist in China. I grew up having spent lots of time in her hospital. The medical field really appealed to me. Nevertheless, my mom thought that being a teacher was a better career choice for me. As a result, I worked as a high school teacher till my husband and I came to the U.S. to pursue our post-graduate education.
