Nursing Anesthesia Personal Statement

My interest in healthcare career is rooted back to my middle school days. The concept of becoming a nurse and helping my community came into my mind after I read the inspiring life story of Florence Nightingale “The lady with the lamp” in one of my schoolbooks. I achieved my dream of becoming a nurse from University of Louisville completing my Bachelor in Nursing degree in May of 2016. Although my career as a registered nurse is very rewarding and fulfilling, my thirst for higher education and challenges has not been quenched. As a result, I have decided to continue my education in a field of nursing anesthesia. I hope I will have my dream come true at Excela Health School of Nursing. My concept of anesthesia may be different from other people. Anesthesia is a healthcare teams’ approach to keep patients safe and with minimal pain and sufferings while they are going through different kinds of treatments and procedures. Anesthesia involves an individualized and holistic approach in planning and treating patients with different kinds of anesthetics. I had looked up different specialties of nursing beyond undergraduate including but not limited to nurse anesthetist, but my interest in nurse anesthesia field started growing after I shadowed in an operating room as a nursing student. During that shadow experience, I could see what kinds of role an anesthesia team play in different procedures. Despite some basic information about nurse anesthesia, I had little knowledge on the path a nurse anesthetist go through to get where they are during the shadow experience. Later, after some research, I found there is a lot of requirements, commitments, and dedications to become a CRNA. I started working hard and planning to become one soon after knowing this
