After completing the Self-Assessment exercise on the Brief Calling Scale (BCS), I scored a total of 15 points out of possible 20. However, the questions were divided; consequently, the end result was more accurate by adding question 1 and 2; I have a calling to a particular kind of work, I have a good understanding of my calling as it applies to my career. Questions 3 and 4; I am trying to figure out my calling in my career, and I am searching for my calling as it applies to my career.
For questions 1 and 2 my total score was 6 points, (ranging from 2-10 points). This indicates a bit of struggle when I think that I have the calling to just one particular kind of work because I am highly interested in many things. For instance, art is a passion of mine, as I like to create/invent, paint, and express myself through drawings. Also, I am highly interested in medicine and the human body; I like to understand exactly what causes what and the why of things. This indicates how much I am engaged in determining my calling. Consequently, this is an indication that I am continually seeking to maintain/or expand my calling. As a result, this truly made sense to me because I am usually trying to fit all of my passions, traits, and likes in one place to give to the world the best that I can be. In addition, the question where am I heading? Is the question that haunts me every day; therefore, I figured that by becoming a Physician Assistant most of my characteristics would fit together. However, I am not completely sure if this is my vocation or my true calling. I have done some research to find out if I am the only one feeling this way; therefore, I came across the term “multipotentialities,” which means- people who have many callings instead of one. In my opinion, I think that I have many passions and creative pursuits, so the term fits me
