This essay will describe and analyse my prior experiences during the course, related with what I have learnt about myself as a writer and learner. The thoughts I had before the beginning of the course where different from what they are now, but the important issue is to explain how they evolve throughout the last three months. Throughout the four assignments done in the course, I identified fundamental requirements I need to do an effective writing and an effective learning. Firstly, I have identified the ideal environment I need for doing my essays. Secondly, I discovered that day and night affect tremendously the quality of my works and why it’s easier to me to learn in the mornings. Finally, I have identified the best way for me to develop the planning phase of my works.
...e manufacturing textiles and weaving spider webs, writing follows the same principle. If writing is not tightly woven with smooth transitions, ideas can fall through the holes in the weaving. Thus, leaving the audience missing ideas and concepts that the writer had intended to convey.
Writing is a skill that requires patience and practice, Fairfax and Moat suggested that “the desire to write” (1998: 4) is the first thing a writer needs at their finger tips, the need to tell a story which means that writing starts with the writer from their “imagination, personality and interests” (Hamand 2009: 9). I don’t require financial resources to complete this project, my basic tools are: lots of pens and paper, notepad, laptop/computer, internet for research, writing magazines for guide and support and finally the dictionary and thesaurus because, Fairfax an...
By providing a description of each stage, and it’s application, Lindermann attempts to explain how individuals can complete the three stages in numerous variations. Prewriting “enables us to understand and begin to solve the problem the stimulus creates for us”(Lindermann 25). Through prewriting, writers “establish what they know”, and “work out provisional answers—”(Lindermann 25). Writing or the “physical act of drafting”(Lindermann 27), is where the individual aspect of the process kicks into full gear. Writers can have certain rituals to start writing, and complete the draft. The last, rewriting, is a “process that includes everything from correcting minor mechanical errors to changing the work substantially” (Lindermann 29). Each stage in this process allows for variation, and yet, there is a structure to the writing process that can be taught to a class while still addressing the personal aspect of the writing
This article will provide a summary of some of the sections in these two chapters that improve the writing process.
The purpose of going every day to classes and studying is to increase our knowledge and applies these sciences to benefit the nation. After this long semester, my horizons have expanded via many different information and activities that we practiced in the class. I have written four essays that are completely different from one another. In addition, of the big research that we have been working on at the end of the semester. I lived with my imagination during writing about each of the Chinese learning center, , Flavi's home and Arranging a marriage in India.
In "The Maker's Eye: Revising Your Own Manuscript," the writer, Donald Murray, demonstrates that writers need to create a few drafts. In the improvement of creating drafts, each draft can be changed and reworked to be clearer. Authors need to welcome both negative input and compliments and be suspicious of both. Murray likewise focuses on the significance of reworking, which incorporates forms like filtering drafts and altering issues which sentences are not in respect to the theory with a specific end goal to make them legible (Murray, p.102). Also, writers must make sure to be more aware of the audience interests and be sure their audience understands the information which the writer is trying to precisely convey. As such, authors must comprehend
Writing is important because it allows us to communicate with others. There are various types of writing such as; journals, essays, narratives, texting, emails, and blogs. Currently, I am a student at Brandman University. As a student, I had the opportunity to write a great deal. Yet I seldom think of myself as writer, possibly this is equivalent to how I deliberate other activities. For instance, I love to cook, but I would certainly not think of myself as a chef. To me a chef is a trained professional who is skillful in all characteristics related to cooking. Therefore, I just think of myself as a person who likes to devote my time in the kitchen cooking. By the same token, since I don’t perceive myself as a writer; I don’t call myself a writer. To me a writer is a person who uses written words in various styles and techniques to communicate their ideas. The writing experiences I had over my lifetime have been ordinarily constructive. In this essay I will be reflecting on my personal experiences as a writer and emphasize on my journey towards becoming an effective, content, and assertive writer.
Another revision technique that was suggested was “sentence outlining” which involves summarizing each paragraph of a writing into one overarching sentence in order to improve the cohesion of the piece (Harris 450). Introducing these techniques can allow readers to utilize revision in their own writing and form their own stance on its effectiveness. With revising the conclusion of a piece, Harris’ advise is to look ahead rather than to rephrase what has already been stated (Harris 454). Revision is expected to extend beyond the piece.
Among these theorists, Linda Flower believes that the new foundation of process pedagogy lies with the establishment of balanced ideas and a continued work in time. As evidence she states that well written essays “are the result of a long, laborious, intensely personal process” (L. Flower). She recognizes different points of views about the process of writing and that most of theorists know this process as detailed steps. These steps include prewriting, writing, rewriting and the use of strategies to pass the meaning properly. Moreover, she believes that writers should refer to other opinions whil...
