Testing Plan A testing plan is necessary to ensure that TIMS will work as promised prior to installation and being released to production. A fully vetted testing plan is needed to ensure the company of when testing is necessary, and the results of any tests are documented and fixed if errors do occur. This test plan will detail the procedures used, how and when the testing will be done, who will participate and what test data will be used (Rosenblatt, 2014). The next step to be taken will be unit testing. This is used to identify and eliminate execution errors that could cause a program to terminate suddenly and logic errors that may have been missed during desk checking. This will allow the servers and database speak to one another. After this has been completed, security and antivirus applications are installed. Now that everything is up, powered on and talking to each other, integrated and system testing can be completed.
A training plan will be drafted to train users on the new system. A model of “train the trainer/super-user” will be used. This model offers training to the staff, and more in-depth training for the super-user. It will then be the super-user’s responsibility to maintain training as needed and do advanced functioning in the system as needed.
With the system ready to be implemented guidelines need to be offered to ensure that everyone within and outside SCR is prepared for the deployment of TIMS. Best practice would be to make sure everyone is aware when TIMS will be installed and how long the implementation will take. An internal email should be sent to employees and printed to be posted for those that do not read their email regularly.
