To this country, 9/11 is known as a devastating event but it has brought us closer as a nation. People all around the country were impacted by this terrifying event. Especially those who were in the Twin towers when the building was struck or those who tried to help save people that were stuck in the building whether they were a co-worker or a firefighter. The day 9/11 occurred people were put through pain, anger and hardship.
The morning of September 11, 2001 started off as any other normal day to many people. That changed very quickly as two jetliners were hijacked leaving Boston to Los Angeles. At 7:45 Rockford time flight eleven hit the North tower of the World Trade Center, flight eleven had 92 people aboard. Eighteen minutes later flight 175 hit the South tower with 65 people aboard. At 8:40 flight 77 from Los Angeles to Washington was also hijacked with 64 people aboard hit the Pentagon. The fourth and final plane to get hijacked that day was flight 93 from Newark, New Jersey to San Francisco with 64 people aboard had crashed near Pittsburgh approximately around nine in the morning. When the two jetliners hit the World Trade Center towers approximately 1,100 people were trapped on or above the floors where the planes had hit. Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the 9/11 attacks. There was approximately nineteen terrorists who attacked the four planes, the terrorist were from the middle East and were in a group called the Al Qaeda. Their leader Bin Laden was killed May 1, 2011.

Box cutter knives were allowed to be passed through airport security as long as they were 4 inches or smaller, but since box cutters were used in the September 11th hijacking they have been prohibited which took effect on September 13, 2001.
Since 9/11 our nation and the people in our nation have not been the same. The events on 9/11 have made people appreciate life more than they did before and it’s made us acknowledge those who died and those who survived and what they went through that terrible day. We as a nation have made many changes in our government and airport security. This tragic day has brought us closer through organizations and just by survivors sharing their story with the world.
On September 11, 2001, America was forever changed. On this day, America faced the biggest terrorist attack that had ever been carried out; thousands of people lost their lives that day. Throughout the sadness and mourning of this terrible event, George Bush addressed the nation with one of the most memorable speeches. When President Bush addressed the nation, he stated that America is strong and they could try to bring us down, but we will not be broken.This speech gave hope to many Americans and helped them remember to stay strong. 9/11 was a horrific incident. There are no words that can possibly describe how deeply it affected the America that my generation has come to know. This atrocity hurt the economy and made us into an intolerant country; however, this same atrocity also opened our nations eyes. It showed us how vulnerable we were, and as a result our countries security, and the concern for safety of its citizens has grown. While it is important to recognize how terrible 9/11 was, its also important to recognize how much it has helped our great nation. 9/11 and events like it are important. They show us how to better our country and though painful, these events necessary into growing our country.
On the morning of September 11/2001, 19 terrorist working for the Al Qaeda terrorist organization hijacked four commercial planes. They attempted to fly them into multiple U.S targets. One of the planes, American Airlines, flight 11, crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center at 8:50 a.m. Another plane, United Airlines, flight 175, crashed into the south tower at 9:04 a.m. These tragedies took the lives of nearly 3000 people and affected the lives of millions.
Overall, 9/11 was a big deal, it changed America forever even though it was a tragic or horrific day in the American history. It was an era in which individuals acted honorably. September 11 experienced horrible hours, but it lead to the beginning of one of America's finest opportunities.
Soon after, Flight 175 attacked the South Tower. By the end of the day, both towers had collapsed and other hijacked flights had caused damage. The amount of lives lost on September 11 was substantial; 2,749 people from eighty-three different countries died from the attacks (Facts about the attacks., n.d.). On September 11, 2001 terrorists crashed two American airline airplanes into Twin Towers, killing thousands of people. On a clear Tuesday morning, there were four planes that were hijacked and flown into multiple buildings by a terrorist group named al Qaeda. This group, led by Osama bin Laden, killed nearly 3,000 people. Out of those 3,000 people more than 400 police and 343 firefighters were killed along with 10,000 people who were treated for severe injuries. Many lives were taken, and to this day, people still suffer from the attack. September 11th is the most influential event of the early twenty-first century because it made an increase in patriotism, it caused a rise in security throughout the nation, and it had a tremendous effect of thousands of lives.
The day of 9/11 is a day that will be in the back of everybodys minds for lifetime. On that sorrowful day four passenger airplanes were highjacked and ultimately crashed. Two of the airplanes crashed into each of the Twin Towers located in New York City. After the buildings burned for around 20 minutes they fell to the ground bringing along millions of tons of debris that killed many workers from both towers. One of the other airplanes crashed into the Pentagon also killing many innocent people. The last airplane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania after many believe that the passengers over powered the highjackers. Many people still morn the deaths of the victims from 9/11. From the second the planes crashed, people have tried to make money from this ordeal, making it one of the most advertised and talked about issue the US has ever seen.
While we were on our D.C. trip we got to go to the 9/11 memorial, it was such an honor to be able to go. By going it was definitely an eye opener for me to really see how many people lost their lives and how many families lost their loved ones. You don’t truly understand how many people died and what a tragedy this event was until you actually see the memorial or if you saw what actually happened, it is amazing to think that all those firefighters gave their live to help protect others. These people should be honored throughout history because of what they did. By really hearing about the 9/11 attack and getting to see the memorial really opened my eyes to see how serious it really was and how many lives in ended and how many families it affected. The memorial is such an amazing place to be and to think that where you are standing is where the twin towers used to stand and where so many people used to work. Not only did the attack affect the people on the planes or in the buildings, but also the people who lived or worked around that area. Before seeing the 9/11 memorial and hearing about what happened, I didn’t really understand how big of a deal this attack was. While I was at the memorial I took a moment and looked around me and I saw other families and people there walking through the memorial or standing by a name. The third plane had crashed into the Pentagon taking out the western side of the building. The last and final plane was focused solely on taking out the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. but failed due to passengers of the plane coming hijacking it from the hijackers. The passengers attempted to take out the hijackers but sadly failed, crashing it into a field in Pennsylvania. He slowly pressed the cold, red blade of a knife into the pilot’s neck. Many of those who saw screamed. They all knew, then, that they would die. Passengers felt the plane take some wild turns and they realized that they had turned around. Not long after this occurred to four planes, every single passenger died.
