The Finnish company Nokia launched its Nokia X at a press conference in New Delhi this afternoon. Consumers and even competitors have been waiting for this low cost device mainly because this is the first device from Nokia which will be running on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) version. There are a few countries including India that have become a very important market for all smartphone manufacturers. Indians are very price conscious and look up to all the options that are available. Micromax, Karbonn, Lava and Maxx are a few local smartphone manufacturers that are expanding and doing very well in some countries. The major uniqueness that we will be experiencing new is the Nokia X is its forked Android OS i.e. the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and the OS itself is called Nokia X OS. The user can download Android apps from the Nokia store along with third party apps. Nokia has not given access to Google Play Store or to any other Google service and has installed its own and Microsoft’s services.
