Every intern that works with the Preservation Committee works Monday through Friday. The office is open from 7:00 am until 5:00 pm, however the intern decides what time they start. The starting time must be between 7:00 am and 9:00 am so that individuals are present for 7.5 hours and 1 hour for lunch. You may arrive early or late and leave accordingly as long as you fulfill your hours. I arrive at 8:00 am and leave at 4:30. This time was decided before I started my internship. Noel Strattan, the internship coordinator, specified that we choose our preferred hours before we started. In the event that you are sick, you should call either Kira Heinrich or Noel Strattan at their work phone numbers. If you tried to call the office and no one answers you are supposed to call their cell phones. Once interns start to work on their projects, there should not be any downtime. While interns are starting to acclimate to their positions, and downtime is expected, interns should familiarize themselves with the materials available concerning their projects. PHMC is like many other organizations when it comes to professional behavior. Socializing is okay to a certain degree, especially for interns due to connections that will potentially further your career. Socializing that impedes your ability to do your job is not okay. Cell phones are not to be used frequently and internet use should pertain to your job, as there are certain websites you must use on a frequent basis. Feedback, evaluation and mentorship occur frequently. Each Monday and Thursday interns gather with their supervisors to discuss their progress and issues with their projects.
