In this new political context, where Hope has vanquished Fear, we might hope that America can return to the task of constructing a reasonable and humane response to the needs of its illegal people. U.S. immigration policy has been a touchstone of political debate for decades as policymakers consider U.S. labor demands and border security concerns. Comprehensive immigration reform has eluded Congress for years, moving decisions into the executive and judicial branches of government and pushing the debate into the halls of state and municipal governments. There are an estimated 11.1 million undocumented immigrants currently residing in the United States. The current healthcare model pertains to all U.S citizens, but what are the parameters and regulations regarding those who live here illegally? The purpose of this paper is to not only answer this question, but also to address concerns regarding the provision of health care benefits, rights, and our ethical responsibilities to this population.

It is my honor to speak before the House of Representatives and Senate and officially state that Mexico and the United States have signed the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. This treaty ends the Mexican-American War as Mexico has agreed to cede all regions that rightfully belong to the United States of America. The Mexican-American War started in April of 1846 and ended yesterday in February of 1848. I consider the war against Mexico as a conflict that largely benefited the United States. President James Polk and all of my fellow US Congressman were reasonable and justifiable to dictate that Mexico obstructed and interfered with the freedom and rights of the citizens in our beautiful nation, specifically in Texas. The Mexican general, Santa Anna, sent troops to invade one of the Union’s state, Texas, and the act is clearly an attack against the United States. In this speech, I will address to the critics of the war the facts, reasons and my clarifications to justify that the United State’s action to declare war against Mexico was reasonable.
For many Mexican immigrants, crossing the border into the land of freedom and the American dream is no easy task. Some immigrants come over illegally by means of hiding in cars to cross borders, using visitor visas to stay longer, marrying to become citizens, and having babies as ‘anchors’ to grant automatic citizenship. Other immigrants gain green cards and work visas and work their way into becoming US citizens legally and subsequently gaining citizenship through paperwork for their families back home. After escaping harsh living and working conditions in Mexico, immigrants come to America prepared to gain education, opportunity, and work. This American dream unfortunately does not come to pass for most.
Did you know that a lot of people come to America illegally? Each year, there are a lot of immigrants that cross into the American border illegally. They cross because, of maybe what is happening in their country or maybe they live in a poor environment. But, it’s our decision. Should we let them be legal immigrants, or should we send them back to where they started? This is what we’re going to talk about today.

Suarez- Orozco and Carola Suarez- Orozco’s article “How Immigrants became “other” Marcelo and Carola reference the hardships and struggles of undocumented immigrants while at the same time argue that no human being should be discriminated as an immigrant. There are millions of undocumented people that risk their lives by coming to the United States all to try and make a better life for themselves. These immigrants are categorized and thought upon as terrorist, rapists, and overall a threat to Americans. When in reality they are just as hard working as American citizens. This article presents different cases in which immigrants have struggled to try and improve their life in America. It overall reflects on the things that immigrants go through. Immigrants come to the United States with a purpose and that is to escape poverty. It’s not simply crossing the border and suddenly having a great life. People from all walks of life travelled across the globe, taking a chance to find a better life for them and their family. Over the years, the population of immigrants has grown immensely, resulting in the currently controversial issue of illegal immigration. Illegal immigrants are the people who have overstayed the time granted on their US, visa or those who have broken the federal law by crossing the border illegally. Matt O’Brien stated in his article “The government thinks that 10.8 million illegal immigrants lived in the country in January 2009, down from a peak of nearly 12 million in 2007.”(Para, 2).
There are over twelve million undocumented immigrants living in the United States. Many came to America to work, go to school, or be reunited with family members who are already residing here. Most migrants want to work and pursue the “American dream”. There are many barriers for residents to achieving success at the work and life balance. Hi, I’m Makenna McLeod and I’m running for President, alongside me is my Vice President Carlie Janeczko. Together we make up the Marlie party, because we are the change America needs. I’m forty four years old and I’m a graduate of Brown University. I hold a MD in American Studies and a PhD in Economic Studies. I also attended Harvard Law School where I attended workshops for Public Law as well as International Law. In addition to my time spent at Harvard I met Carlie my Vice President. Carlie, who is forty three, attended Columbia University where she obtained an MD in economics political science as well as a Bachelor of science in foreign service. Carlie then went on to attend Harvard Law where we met in one of their many workshops. I am currently married with four dogs all of different species while Charlie is married and is a mother to six children. We are aiming for a united nation that places equal time and money on military spending, fine arts and culture and health care and education.
