Dreams are people’s expectations for a better tomorrow. However, intoxicated drivers shatter those dreams without a reason or warning. Even with all the advertisements that highlights the dangers and effects of driving drunk, yet people still chose to drive while intoxicated. Many advocates are working hard to get these people off the streets, and they have been able to reduce the number of alcohol related crashes. Organizations such as Mothers against Drunk Driving have acted alongside law enforcement to reduce the horrific statistics.
It is one of the worst things have on your permanent record especially if you have battery assault or charges of murder, it can really effect that person many different ways. “Berman (2004)” such as laws will hurt the responsible social drinker who is not impaired with a .08 BAC and does not solve the problem of drunk drivers who cause accidents. In most states for your first arrest could face license suspicion, fine fees, and community service. Others believe the opposite of drinking and driving, they feel like it’s not a problem to do it, feel like it’s not an issue or think it won’t cause damage. It is
Drunk driving is illegal in every state. It is not only illegal, but unsafe to operate an automobile if you are under the influence of alcohol. When a person drinks, the alcohol is absorbed into the blood stream and various tests have been designed to measure the level of alcohol in a person’s blood. In most states, if a person has a blood alcohol level greater than .10%, that person is presumed to be too intoxicated to safely operate an automobile. Driving under the influence of alcohol is considered the nation’s most frequently committed violent crime, and in the 1980’s the public supported a wider range of non-criminal countermeasures, as well as stricter legal measures, to govern DUI’s.

Allowing Oregon to conduct sobriety checkpoints will make it safer for drivers because it prevents tragedies from occurring, and can reduce crime rates in the area due to police presence in the neighborhoods. According to the article, "State Estimates of Drunk and Drugged Driving," from 2006 to 2009, Oregon was named one of the top ten states to have highest rates in drugged driving. Statistics also show that every 22 minutes someone dies from an alcohol related auto accident. If Oregon police departments had the right to conduct sobriety checkpoints many tragedies could be prevented. It has been proven that driving under the influence impairs the driver’s ability to make the right decisions and that’s why these tragedies occur.
As the blood alcohol concentration increases, the risk of car accidents, highway injuries, and vehicular deaths also increase. Drunk drivers should be imprisoned on the first offense, if so many lives will be saved. Having the accused imprisoned on the first offense will greatly decrease the number of DUIs. According to statistics, 50 to 75 percent of convicted drunk drivers continue to drive on a suspended license (madd.org). If those convicted drunk drivers were imprisoned right after their first misdemeanor, they would not have the chance to harm innocent lives again because they would be in jail, guaranteeing that they will not have the chance to harm an innocent life while under the influence.
Particularly, the most unsafe college drinking, binge drinking should not happen in an environment of colleges so that students who live around the campus would feel more secure. Besides, college is a place to higher people’s education, not a place to meet up and party. Another reason is for the ignorant of the huge effect from the alcohol to our body. For this kind of drunk drivers, they almost all have extraordinary "confidence", thinking that after drinking some wine, they can also drive to the destination. They also believe that if caught in a critical situation, they can also deal with it calmly. However, in fact, alcohol can make their nerve palsy, slow down our mind gradually which is very likely to make the drivers end in irredeemable misstep. Thus it will be too late to regret after making the accidents.
People can die at the hands of someone else because they decided to drink and drive. There are people who are injured by drunk drivers. However, there is always a way to avoid If there was a designated driver for ever time a group of people went out it would cut back on so many accidents. Many people would not have to drive in fear of there being drunk drivers out on the road. Less people would die from car accidents or lose a limb.
Leeway is not given to the car thief and therefore, the students that stole another’s hard work must receive punishment if our society’s moral standards are to be sustained. It is mandatory all students are knowledgeable about plagiarism laws and take extreme caution not to infringe upon them. “But I did not know!” is not a valid vindication. Imagine that all crimes were pardoned by mere explanations such as, “But I did not know!” or “I did not mean to!” Our world would be completely chaotic. All students are responsible for their own actions.... ... middle of paper ... ...e world constantly failed to implement laws and penalties; criminals would leave without penalty and learn no lesson of right and wrong.
