What would it be like if someone were to fall asleep, and wake up in a completely different place? This is what happens in Nightmare Academy. The book has a great ability to grab attention and make someone second guess their thoughts on any character, as well as make the impossible seem possible. In this report, there will be an explanation of how the book is able to grab someone's attention, as well as how the book would make a person second guess the characters, and finally, how the book is fictional yet lifelike, or in other words impossible yet possible. But first, there will be a basic summary of the book. The book itself is about a boy Elijah and a girl Elisha who live on a ranch with there parents in Montana, where they enjoy riding their horses around their ranch and in the mountain. Since the main characters were at an academy, there were lots of other teenage characters in the book. This lead to there being lots of chaos, because not everybody got along. There were lots of battles between the dorms, and people stealing other peoples stuff, so it would be common for someone to change their opinions, or think about their opinions on the different characters. The students aren't the only ones someone would change their opinions on, the teachers also what they seem. The day after Elijah and Elisha get to the academy, they start their daily classes, which are math, science and all the usual subjects you would take in school, therefore opinions are quickly made about teachers, who the strict ones are, and who the nice ones are. As more things start going on, and teachers start changing, thoughts also start to change what the teachers are really like. Plot: The book took place in the 1860’s in Texas. Jim Coates is off for the summer doing a cattle drive. He left Travis his oldest son in charge of the house. The day after his dad left, Travis went into the dog run and got some meat but a dog was in there. It was a big yellow dog and ate a bunch of the meat. Travis’s mom let his little brother Arliss keep the dog. One day Arliss and the dog were by the stream playing in the water and a she bear and her cub were there. The beginning started with Jay telling about how his family moved to the Cherokee hills. The book ended with Jay giving his money to Daisy to fix her leg. She lives in a rundown house with her father; her real mom (who she's made to call Stepmother); the "old one", the children's grandmother-- Poh-Poh; and 3 brothers. Throughout The Awakening by Kate Chopin, symbols and setting recur representing Edna’s current progress in her awakening. The reader can interpret these and see a timeline of Edna’s changes and turmoil as she undergoes her changes and awakening.
This book teaches the importance of self-expression and independence. If we did not have these necessities, then life would be like those in this novel. Empty, redundant, and fearful of what is going on. The quotes above show how different life can be without our basic freedoms. This novel was very interesting and it shows, no matter how dismal a situation is, there is always a way out if you never give up, even if you have to do it alone.

How do you know that a dream is really a dream or if reality is real? The ‘Night Face Up’ is a short story written by Julio Cortazar depicting a nameless protagonist who flips between dream and reality. The main character is switching between a hospital setting between the 1950’s and 1980’s, and an ancient Aztec area. The man experiences a world where he was recently involved in a motorcycle accident and ends up in the hospital with a broken arm. In the Aztec area he is running for his life as he is being hunted down to be a human sacrifice. This story leaves a lasting impression on the reader and achieves unity of effect through the authors use of plot and sensory description.
For my book report I read The God of Animals by Aryn Kyle. This book is about a twelve year old girl named Alice who is growing up on a horse ranch in desert Colorado. At the time we really being the story it’s about mid-May and an extreme heat wave has just begun to occur. We get to follow this girl through what could be the longest summer of her life.
Inception explores dreams as something that can be changed at will, whether at the owner's will or someone elses. One scene takes place in Cobb's (the main character) mind. He is training a recruit, Ariadne, as “The Architect”, so she could become the one who would build a dream for the victim, Fisher. The invader needs to create a realistic world that is based on what the victim normally does every day so as to allow the victim to think that everything is not a dream. This one scene appeals mostly to our emotions and is incorporated into my project the most. Ariadne starts to playfully change the scenery within Cobb's mind. The setting is originally a small cafe in a busy urban town. She skews reality and twists the streets around themselves until one layer of buildings is folded up and around to stack upon each other roof to roof. Cobb and Ariadne can now walk on “walls” which are actually the ground, but at the same time “walls”. This story is focused on one family in the town of Kafr El Teen, especially on the woman of the family. Zakeya and Kafrawi are Brother and sister and the oldest of the house. Karfrawi's daughters also live with them, Zeinab, and Nefissa's. Also at one point Galal, Zakeys son lived with them ( also Zeinabs husband ). This family is put through many struggles mostly placed upon them by the Mayor of the town, who has an obsession with the daughters of Karfawi.
