Night Train consists of two accomplished artists who have worked in bands and as solo artists; both multi-instrumentalists adding a whole new dynamic to their musical performances. Having travelled the country touring, recording and gigging, both members of the duo are seasoned professionals that are a guaranteed asset to any given venue.
Keith Fischer, predominately a rhythm guitarist and vocalist is a former X factor contestant and has written, recorded, performed and opened for the likes of Don Felder (Eagles), Mondo Rock, Shannon Noll, Al Perkins (Eagles) and Diesel. Millions of Jews, gypsies, disabled, and Slavic people brutally died because of the Holocaust. Between Shades of Gray and Night both are daunting stories about people who had to go through the struggles of prejudice. These two novels have characters that are related in some aspects and distinct in others. The characters I find the most alike are Lina and Elie, Ona and Mrs. Schächter, and Elena and Shlomo. Lina and Elie are alike by loving and defending their families. Likewise, Ona and Mrs. Schächter are alike by how they react to the harsh events. Finally, Elena and Shlomo are alike by being strong in a time of crisis. These character’s traits are slightly different, but mostly alike.
When individuals face obstacles in life, there is often two ways to respond to those hardships: some people choose to escape from the reality and live in an illusive world. Others choose to fight against the adversities and find a solution to solve the problems. These two ways may lead the individuals to a whole new perception. Those people who decide to escape may find themselves trapped into a worse or even disastrous situation and eventually lose all of their perceptions and hops to the world, and those who choose to fight against the obstacles may find themselves a good solution to the tragic world and turn their hopelessness into hopes. I have always said the only thing I miss of a past girlfriend is her collection of Barenaked Ladies albums. After recreating her collection for myself, I learned that a new album was on the way. Maroon -- the band's sixth album is filled with 12 brand new songs with enough quirkiness and pop that will forever be the marks of the Barenaked Ladies (BNL). To my surprise Don Was, a Grammy Award winning producer whose name was also on my B-52's and Rolling Stones albums, produced this album. The Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters main goal was to help gain equal opportunities for African Americans in the workplace as well as in American society (Tuttle). They wanted to achieve higher wages, shorter working hours, self-determination, fairness, and dignity for African Americans (Morales). According to Morales, a porter would receive $25.00 for more than 80 hours of work, which was low, even for the early 1920s. Porters had to work over 400 in a month or for 11,000 miles, depending on which ever came first to receive any overtime pay. Asa Philip Randolph was approached by Ashley Totten, a union organizer and veteran Pullman porter, and was asked to lead the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters. Stevie Ray Vaughan is a legend and was a leading figure in the blues-rock genre. Vaughan was born in Dallas, Texas in October of 1954. (Dutton) He was exposed to music early on in his childhood watching big bother Jimmie Vaughan play guitar. By the age of 14 Vaughan was playing in Dallas blues clubs. (Simon, 2001) When he played he demanded the audience’s attention and had a sound of blues meets Jimi Hendrix. (Wenner, 2011) His fame was based mainly in central Texas. It was not until he played at a party thrown by Mick Jagger that his band Double Trouble got their big break when David Bowie as Vaughan to perform on his upcoming album Let’s Dance. (Stevie Ray Vaughan, 2013.) He became a pretty big success and his fan base grew to places outside of Texas. In 1985 Stevie became the first white performer to win the W.C. Handy Foundation’s Blues Entertainer of the Year award. (Simon, 2001) After a performance in August of 1990 Vaughan got on a helicopter bound for Chicago that crashed into mountains due to fog just minutes after taking off killing everyone onboard. Night is a literary memoir of Elie Wiesel’s tenure in the Nazi concentration camps during the Holocaust. Elie Wiesel created a character reminiscent of himself with Eliezer. Eliezer experienced cruelty, stress, fear, and inhumanity at a very young age, fifteen. Through this, he struggled to maintain his Jewish faith, survive with his father, and endure the hardships placed on his body and mind.
Each single gives a fair representation of what the rest of the album is like. While the album is definitely more blues than psychedelic, many of the songs have a few psychedelic touches, like the sitar-like sound in “Dance The Night Away”. The most psychedelic songs on the album are the singles “SWLABR” and “Tales Of Brave Ulysses”; The lyrics to “SWLABR” make little sense, and discuss a woman who is like a bearded rainbow, “You’ve got that rainbow feel but the rainbow has a beard”. “The Tale Of Ulysses” lyrics don’t make much sense either; they just describe a fantastical land with mermaids and Aphrodite. While the instruments used aren’t specifically psychedelic, the wah-wah guitar, fuzz box, electric guitar, and drums work well together to give each song a rocky psychedelic
Simon Cowell is a big success in the music industry producing big hit television shows including American Idol and the X-Factor. Cowell has not always been very successful although; he has had an easy childhood but after leaving the house, he had many complications with setting out. Simon Cowell had a rough, harsh start on his life from the moment he started out, but with some help and advice of his father, he is now well known and a huge success.
