In 500 words or less, please tell us why you are interested in becoming a New Student Orientation Leader? The first thing that caught my eye, when I saw the position posted was definitely- New Student Orientation Leader. I know the program welcome new students at each New Student Orientation in a sense of pride, energetic, and connectedness about the college and be able to communicate this with new students; the program is able to acquaint new students with campus services and facilitative campus tours; and the program is open-minded and creative about the activities at the New Student Orientation. But the part that really spoke to me about this position was the chance to combine both the leadership skills I gained from participating in the community service and my knowledge as a social work student that actively lets me engage with my growing interest in working with a diverse population. I have been interested in becoming a school social worker for a while now and have been actively managing my network for a few years. Joining a college-oriented program at the College of Staten Island makes sense to me because I think it is one of the best places, where I will be able to connect to students as peer and role model and be able to use my knowledge. I believed that is when I actually know the major I declared in and the how the professors were like there. In my opinion, I loved the atmosphere and the actives at the New Student Orientation. If the orientation can be improved upon, I would have changed the duration and the activities of the group meeting with the department of schools. Getting to know more about the professors or staffs at the department and having prepared requirement courses pamphlets for the new students will help them with their decision making when it comes to the time like advisement and
