Introduction

Over the past decade more than a dozen new stadiums have been built within the United States. A sports facility has potential to become a major source of revenue, venue for advertising, and brings about economic and social benefits to the community. The goal of a new facility is to increase the fan base, boost revenue, and increase a team’s competitiveness. For cities to reap the benefits of a new facility there must be support from the city, as well as, support from city officials. Building a new facility provides more jobs for the city, increases property value, and tourism. Our goal at Hale Yea, Inc. is the build a new basketball arena in the city of Bryan, TX, in order to, bring in a new basketball team to uplift the city’s economy, and uplift the citizens, by generating them a since of pride for their city.

Bryan-College Station Metropolitan Area

Bryan is a city in the Brazos Valley with a population of about 76, 201 based on the 2010 census report. Bryan shares it border with the college filled town of College Station, which is south of the city. College Station has a population over 94,000 and is home to Texas A&M University, which educates more than 46,000 students, and 2,700 in staff. With a growing population reaching nearly 200,000, the Bryan-College Station Metropolitan Area is the ideal place for new businesses to grow ("2010 Census Data - 2010 Census"). The metropolitan area also has the land capacity that allows for new companies to expand. The Bryan-College Station metropolitan area is a mere 90 miles from Houston, Waco, and Austin, and 180 miles from Dallas. Being in the middle of these cities allows the metropolitan area to attract tourism from the most populated cities in the state of Texas.
