I am a junior pursuing a Bachelor of Science in psychology and minor in biology at Webster University. I have taken and excelled in many psychology courses and a considerable amount of biology courses, some of which have provided me with a basic laboratory knowledge. I also plan to study abroad in Vienna, Austria in the fall of 2017, where I will conduct my senior thesis research involving emotional intelligence and memory. I am currently collaborating with professors, here and abroad to coordinate this research. Not only have I planned to conduct my research while abroad, but I will promptly be achieving these experiences as I plan to graduate in three years.

This crossover encompasses my distinct interest in the physiological and psychological functions of the brain. Additionally, I am particularly interested in the research aspect of neuropsychology. I have a strong passion for exploring new developments of the brain through scientific methods. As a neuropsychologist, I would also have the opportunity to see clients and perform neurological assessments. My interest to work with individuals continues to grow through my current interactions with children as a gymnastics coach.

With my current involvement in research, I am experiencing a broad range of subfields within psychology. The Leah Menshouse Springer Summer Opportunities Program will further develop my research skills in a clinical setting and broaden my experiences in the subfields of psychology and medicine. I am also a driven student who possess a strong work ethic and self-motivation that helps me achieve my goals. Through these opportunities, I have cohesively worked with members of an intermediate and an extended team to support ideas, think critically, and solve problems. I am passionate about expanding my knowledge in research relating to psychology and medicine.

Throughout my collegiate career, I have been primarily focused on my academics. I am currently taking a full course load of 18 credits, and working a part-time job at 18 hours per week. Additionally, I am a volunteer research assistant on two studies at Webster University and Siteman Cancer Center.

Along with these experiences and characteristics, I am certified in CITI training and as a Siteman Cancer Center volunteer. I have been on the Dean’s List for two semesters at Webster University. Furthermore, I am also enrolled in a statistics class using
