“Social networking, also referred to as social media, encompasses many Internet-based tools that make it easier for people to listen, interact, engage and collaborate with each other.” High school students live in a world where social networking is in high demand. Sites teenagers’ access include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snap Chat, Kick, Face Time, and online chatting. Adolescents take information released on social media too seriously. The social networking boom that has evolved in the world is producing negative effects on teenagers.
First, social networking has negatively influenced communication. Teenagers are adapting to the internet to communicate and have conversations with other people. A primary example of bad communication is relationships. A false sense of connection through relationships are displayed on the internet. For example, a student engages with a mate online but will never communicate with the person face to face. How can people have relationships if no outside communication is happening?
