Where is the moral compass of today’s women? Abortions make different women suffer in different ways. There are so many serious physical complications each year resulting from abortions. Are the health risks really worth it? Breast, cervical, ovarian, and liver cancers are higher risks in women who have abortions.
But women who have aborted their babies are not all addicted. Another fact about the risk of abortion is increased in the probability of getting breast cancer. Females who does abortion not only lose the benefits of life, they will also have physiological change in their body due to termination can be overwhelming. According to the United State National Cancer Institute, women who have had an induced abortion have a 50% risk of getting breast cancer by the age of 45. The threat is even higher for women who have had an abortion before the age of 18.
Ten percent of women undergoing elective abortion will suffer immediate complications, of which one-fifth are considered life-threatening. The most common complications that can occur at the time of an abortion are: ripping or perforation of the uterus, excessive bleeding, infection, embolism, convulsions, hemorrhage, cervical injury, endotoxic shock, fever, second degree burns, vomiting, and chronic abdominal pain. You can learn more by reading "Physical Health Risks of Abortion: Scientific Studies Reveal Significant Risk," from the Elliot Institute. Over 750 papers have been published regarding the risks to abortive women. Women fall into one of two categories: normal risk or high risk.
Banning abortion, put women at a higher risk of going out and finding illegal way to have the procedure done (“Abortion Information” 1). Once abortion became illegal in the United States 1.2 million abortions were preformed illegally. Dangerous attempts have been made by women to preform their own abortion, or have them done by unskilled surgeons often with dangerous instruments and sometimes in unsanitary conditions. Serious complication from unsafe abortion included, “perforations of the uterus, retained placentas, severe bleeding, cervical wounds, and rampant infections” (Currie 17.) Abortion has become safer over the years and should be legalized in every state in the United States; abortion should also be kept private between the client and doctor.
This paper will explain all of the harmful ways abortions can harm your body and also how they may affect you in a positive and in a negative way. It will also help you understand why people decide to get an abortion or why they decide not to get them. Even though you may not agree with the decision of abortion, you have to have an open mind to other people’s decisions and opinions towards them. Over several centuries and in different cultures there is a deep history of women helping each other to abort (Boston’s women help). Abortion is often presented as if it is new and people have just started doing it years ago, when in reality the practice of abortion has dated back to ancient times.
“One in every ten women in the United States will develop breast cancer sometime during her life”. (Breast Care). More than six percent of these cases are linked to hereditary. There are many measures that can be taken to detect breast cancer early in its stages. Women who believe they have a higher risk should have the breast cancer gene testing.
“God send us someone to cure cancer, AIDS, etc., etc.” “I did but you aborted them.” Abortion is a very serious topic that is separated by two groups pro-life or pro-choice who often argue on what is fair. Pro-choice is the people who believe it is the woman’s choice to choose if she wants an abortion or not. They don’t think the fetus is a human until a certain point in the pregnancy. Pro-life is when people believe that getting an abortion is killing a human being with rights. They want abortion to be illegal whether the woman wants one or not.
Before we move further, here is a clear definition of abortion: (Chambers dictionary, 1999) ‘it is the removal of the fetus from the uterus during the first few months of pregnancy. It may be spontaneous or induced.’ The process is quite hurting and yet people still do it. Abortion is only not practised by unmarried women or girls; it is also practised by women who are married. Moreover some husbands even persuade their wives to have one. But some of these couples are usually faced with this big question; “ARE WE SURE WE WANT TO DO THIS?” This essay would show you reasons why parents should not be allowed to choose whether they want to keep an unwanted fetus and why the baby should live.
For example, If it 's your body, you should have thought about your body before, having sex. When having an abortion, you’re going to hurt your body more than having the baby normal or with C-section. According to World health organization, there are 289,000 women 's that die in pregnancy or after childbirth. And there are 470,000 women 's that die from abortion each year. Don’t abort a child, thinking that you’ll have a better life, but again, what if you don’t
Nevertheless you are ending the life of a person who did not get a chance to strive to be all that he/she could be. So as you can see although abortion is prevalent among many women in our society it should not be viewed as a positive thing because the woman can acquire some sort of disease after the abortion process is over, psychological damage may occur after the abortion, and it ends a human life. Ronald Reagan (1983) definitely made a point when he said “Abortion is advocated only by persons who have themselves been born.” So what do you think of abortion now, that I have stated some valid points that do not support it?
