Nature vs Nurture
Nature vs nurture has been an ongoing debate for many decades among some of the greatest minds in psychology. Everyone is trying to figure out the source of human personality. Does our personality develop primarily by genetics, known as nature or is it based off of our environment and the way we were raised, nature? I believe it is a bit of both, but in my opinion nurture plays a bigger role. What is nature and how does it play an important role in our development? Nature is our genetics. The physical and personal traits determined by our genes. Our genetic makeup is made from 23 unpaired chromosomes from our mother and 23 unpaired chromosomes from our father, that come together and pair up making 23 paired chromosomes

Nurture is our personal experiences and our environment. It is the way we were brought up by our parents or guardians. How is nurture involved in my development growing up? For instance, growing up I was always kind of shy. My parents never really signed me up for any after school activities since they always had to work. Also, growing up since I was “different” I would get picked on for not looking like my peers. When I was little and in elementary school there were not many Hispanic kids and I always felt like the odd one. I did not get the chance to become confident by playing sports after school and since I would get picked on it made me not want to speak out much either. Today it is a different story I am a bit quiet, but I am no longer shy and I’ve learned to be more …show more content…
It has definitely been a huge impact in my development. A little after I had turned 2 years old my parents decided to leave Mexico to give my brother and I a better future. My dad had already been living here for many years, but my mom had wanted to stay behind. I experienced having to learn a new language when I started school, since at home my parents only spoke Spanish. In school I was picked on for being different, so I learned to accept everyone and not pick on anyone because they were not like me, it made me more open minded. My parents have always worked hard and I was taught to do the same, I have had a job since I was 13. I realized the huge sacrifices my parents made and how much they left behind when they left that tiny town in Mexico. My parents did not go to college, so they have always pushed me to do good in school, so I always try my best. I definitely think growing up as a Latina definitely played a huge role in my
The nature vs. nurture controversy is an age old question in the scientific and psychological world with both camps having evidence to support their theories. The controversy lies in which is more influential in the development of human beings. While there is no definitive answer for this, it is interesting to look at each of them separately.
Nature, which is also known as hereditary, is the genetic makeup (DNA) that an individual carries from birth until death. Hereditary characteristics are different in each individual, group and humans in comparison to other species. Nurture on the other hand refers to environmental factors and similar to nature, an individual is also exposed from birth until death. These factors involve elements such as physical environments (prenatal nutrition) and social environments (media and peer pressure). (Social Issues Referencing, 2007)
Both nature and nurture play a major role in human life. nature is a human being natural character which is comes from genetic makeup and nurture other character influence factor which mainly influence by the environment which we are in and surround our self. traits like height, weight, skin color, and physical appearance, aging is majorly affected by of nature. All human being regardless of their age will have those all traits received from their biological parents and ancestors. However, some of those traits can be influenced by nurture as well. For instance, weight can be affected by the types of food a person eats and amount of exercise he/she is doing on daily basis. Aging as well
Have you ever wondered, or thought where you have got your personality from? The debate over nature versus nurture is whether people like identical twins, for example, are born and raised by genetics,(nature) and if they are born and raised by influences and influenced by the environment around them(nurture). The debate over nature versus nurture is very important and cannot be ignored. Identical twins are different in many ways. Studies have shown that nurture, is more dominant than nature. My personality has also changed in many ways as I have been raised. So as you can see I am on the nurture side by far.
Nature is the affect on your personality caused by genetics. From the twin sisters that were separated at birth and grew up on different continents, Anais and Sam have a lot in common. Fro the ame pet peeve to the same laugh. The Jim twins are another great example of nature. They are not your average set of twins, they have the same taste in beer, tobacco products, and even named their first born the same way. Now I know that you are thinking what but they did not meet until their 40s, but when they did they found that out.
There has been constant debate between scientists about the influence of the environment on children. The other philosophy is what of the influence of environment over nature. This debate has raged for decades. Current scientists are no closer to ending the debate.
Nature vs Nurture is a very long living debate that has been on the minds of many who study motor development. This can be a very difficult topic to choose a side to argue for because both Nature and Nurture have very strong points which prove they influence the development of a person. Nature refers to the genetic makeup and genetic relations an individual has linked to their birth parents. Nature is strictly about the genetics and the way these genetics make up and influence the way a person develops, behaves and lives their life. Nature refers to heredity and the traits an individual will obtain from their parents that have been passed down from generation to generation. Nurture refers to the environment one lives in and the experiences
Being yourself, being who you are. When you hear those two lines you may think they mean the same thing but do they? Think about it, you were born into this world a tiny little baby with no ideas, or preferences, but as you grew you developed a personal identity, but did it really develop or was it in you to begin with. Such questions are what leads to the great debate of nature vs nurture. If you believe you were born already with a personality, then you take the side of nature. on the other hand if you believe that your personality developed based on influences in your life beginning when you were a child then you believe in nurture. Two totally different theories, both which are believed to make us who we are.
Nature VS nurture is a part of developmental psychology. It is the issue of the degree to which environment and heredity influence behavior (Feldman, 2013). They call this the age old question of psychology. With all of the research that has been done, people now believe that it is not one of these factors that that determine a person’s development, but both.
Nature and Nurture are two very important factors in every organism’s life, as they affect every aspect. Nature is the inborn, innate character of an organism (PSYCH 56). This means that you are born with this characteristic, it is hereditary. Nurture, on the other hand, refers to the environmental factors that affect an organism throughout its life (PSYCH 56). Both of these factors have affected my life significantly, from physical to psychological development. That being said, I feel like nature has affected my life slightly more than nurture.
Throughout the history of human existence, there have always been questions that have plagued man for centuries. Some of these questions are “what is the meaning of life” and “which came first, the chicken or the egg”. Within the past 400 years a new question has surfaced which takes our minds to much further levels. The question asked is whether nature or nurture has more of an impact on the growing development of people. It is a fact that a combination of nature and nurture play important roles in how humans behave socially. However, I believe that nature has a more domineering role in the development of how people behave in society with regards to sexual orientation, crimes and violence and mental disorders.
One of the most well-known debates in psychology is nature versus nurture. Nature is pre-determined traits, influenced by biological factors and genetics. Physical characteristics such as height, hair color, and eye color is all determined by the genetics we inherit. Nurture is the influence of environmental factors. Nature and nurture affects the physical, emotional, and social development of a child.
What is nature? Nature is the part that is genetic inheritance and biological factors. The biological is focusing mainly on what our hormonal changes are and what is going on with our neurochemicals in our body for explanation why we behave the way we don’t. We are born with things that can 't be changed such as hair color, eye, how tall we get, what kind of hair were going to have such as straight curls wavy etc. these are all things we have and can 't change
Nature is described as our physical attributes and genes from when we are born. Our genetics that make us who we are include our eye colour, height and hair colour, as well as our natural talents, abilities and our intelligence level.
Where do you think your personality came from? The nature vs. nurture has been going on for many, many years and will probably keep going on for many more years. The purpose of this debate is to determine which one has a bigger influence on personality. It is a proven fact that both nurture and nature have a huge role in contributing to your personality development. Identical twins have many similarities, but also many differences. Your personality can change while you are growing up. Studies have shown that your personality is based off your surroundings and how you grow up. In most cases nurture has a more stronger influence on your personality than nature does.
