The nature vs. nurture debate is about characteristics pertaining to the personality, behavior and intelligence of an individual is it due to genetics, or environment. Now drawing upon a NURTURE assumption, some specific ways in which I think my child’s experiences of my parenting style/choices mattered for her development are, safe environment, intensive school work, and experiences. Beyond that Salma is a group leader in any kind of activities. I do not believe Salma would have the same outcome if I kept her inside the house, and did not allow her to have any friends, and leave it just on nature to decide how my child would develop emotionally and socially her lifespan.
In addition, Salma also Demonstrates strength in the areas of speaking and listening and any content knowledge studied at her school, like science. The reason why she has some these strengths is because I would make sure Salma listens attentively when other are interacting with her, and also we hire a tutor to make sure Salma understood all the assignment before of the next morning of classes she has to attend. The fact that both my partner and I was helping to make sure Salma succeeds not only socially, but also academically was well paid off and showed very well on the influence we had on Salma’s successes. To illustrate my scores on the parenting questionnaire indicated I was in the top 15% in discipline and control toward my child. Also, Salma’s grades were mostly “A’s” and she only received one or two B’s, in her final grade of every semester of the school year, I believed without a doubt it was because I was very consistent with Salma, and my rules and regulations were clear to her. On the contrary side, I am warm and very affection it towards my child. For instance, I always praise immediately after my child does well on a task, or cooperates with others very well. However, my praising was always simple and honest, I do not like to exaggerate it as that would perpetuate for to seek my attention without accomplishing anything out of her expectations. In many different articles I read, and plus the textbook it is comprehended, and accepted in my brain now that nature and the nurture cannot play the role of creating the outcome of a human by themselves. I believe both genetics and environments play an essential role for any behavior, basically I do accept someone to tell me nature can interact independently, or vice versa of nurture. Both genetics and environment are inseparable in my vision and knowledge. The Nurture vs. Nature has been a long standing debate amongst psychologists. Thomas was born into a wealthy white family while Roxy birthed Chambers into a life of slavery. It seemed as though each would have gone their separate ways into opposite walks of life, but Roxy secretly swapped the children, which destined each to their counterintuitive fates. Through their words and actions, Tom, Chambers, and Roxy have proven the idea that one’s behaviors and desires are a result of his upbringings and the environment he lives in rather than by his innate nature.
The nature vs. nurture controversy is an age old question in the scientific and psychological world with both camps having evidence to support their theories. The controversy lies in which is more influential in the development of human beings. While there is no definitive answer for this, it is interesting to look at each of them separately.
Experts have devised a standard pattern of development for a healthy child in ideal conditions. But it is not possible that every child is born fit and gets the deserved conditions. Nature and nurture both equally contribute to the development of a child. Deficiencies in nurturing and/or abnormalities of nature may cause development not to follow the expected pattern. Albert Camus once said, “Man is the only creature who refuses to be what he is.” But what makes man what he is? Is it his sheer genetic makeup, or is it the way he was raised? The nature vs. nurture debate has raged on for centuries, but neither side has been able to prove their point indefinitely. I believe that a child’s growth is developmental, and each child needs a secure caring and motivating atmosphere in which to grow and developed emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. I believe nature and nurture are the two aspects that influence in child development. Nature and nurture are different in several ways, but they both play an important role in child development. I believe that the environment that a person grows up in has the most influence on child development because children reflect what they are taught and what they learn from the people around them.

As a previous Sociology major, I spent a majority of my time focusing on how society affects human growth and development in which lead me to discuss Michael Rutter (2002), Nature verse Nurture theory. The professor of developmental psychopathology has written several article throughout the year on the effects of nature verse nurture relating to emotional disorders, paradigm shift, and challenges in child and adolescent just to name a few.
