We walk up to the gingerbread colored house as the pea stones crunch underneath our feet and a summer breeze hits our faces. We open the rickety white storm door and push the heavy ginger bread colored door into the kitchen. The kitchen has a rustic smell to it, surrounded with furniture from the 1970s. I continue through the kitchen, glancing at the monk cookie jar on top of the refrigerator. Through the doorway, I enter the living room. I spot the old milk jug we use as a stool, between the twin chairs with a vintage pattern of eagle symbols. The Native American patterned chairs from decades ago still look like recent editions to the old lake house. I make my way over to look out the picture window that sits between the chairs, allowing
