Native American Creation Story versus Christian Creation

When I was a child I had been told a Christian creation story is different from the one that I had read in the book ? Iroquois. The differences between these two creation stories are: at the beginning of creation of the world, the type of people, and the meaning of the story.

At the beginning of the story about the creation is different: in Christian story, the first day God created the heavens and the earth. God created the world in seven days, and the world has day time, night time, plants, trees, sky, seas, lands, water, birds, wild animals, foods, the man ? Adam, and his wife ? Eve. On the other hand, in Iroquois, that has two worlds in ancients already ? the lower world was in great darkness and humankind inhabited the upper world. It means there was no creation of the world for Iroquois.

In Christian story, the man ? Adam was working alone at the garden ? Eden. God though it was a good idea for him to be alone, therefore, God caused Adam to fall into a deep sleep, and God took his ribs and made a woman ? Eve. They become a couple, living and working together. On the ...
