In modern government, interest group is an essential piece to a political puzzle. Interest group is defined as an organized group of people that makes policy-related appeals to government. With that being said, interest groups acquire a decent amount of power which is enough to influence the government’s programs and policies. These groups were built based on the idea of James Madison called “pluralism”, which is the theory that all interests should be free and able to compete to bring out the most efficient solutions for the government and the society. It was originally founded in 1982 to advocate for the value of immigrants and immigration to the United States. According to its official website, the organization’s ultimate mission is to get immigrants recognized and promote their potentials in supporting the nation while honoring the ideals of the Founding Fathers in creating America as a land of opportunity (National Immigration Forum). The Forum has been operating as a center of every major immigration-related legislative and policy debate ever since the year it was established. The organization is also currently pursuing its symbolic campaign named Immigration 2020, that its goal is to encourage new Americans to strengthen their potential skills and status in supporting for the United States by improving immigration laws. I chose immigration not because I felt confident in writing about this topic, but I was curious to see what the reactions and outcomes that the public and interest groups would offer. Growing up in an immigrated family, I understand the struggle of the ones that sacrificed their lives to look for better opportunities in a different country, so I believe that immigrants need to be treated better in reward for their hardship and dedication. And I am not speaking in a bias view just because my family is immigrant. The truth is that immigration actually benefits America in many aspects, especially economy. According to a survey done by the Brookings Institute, “on average, immigrants raise the overall standard of living of American workers by boosting wages and lowering prices” (Matthews). What this means is that immigrants do not steal jobs from Americans, but they change what job employers need to fill. So basically, immigrants could bring more profits for companies as they work in different positions and open more jobs for naïve American workers. Also, many immigrants reported to be skilled workers, who “are desperately needed in America’s science and software industry” (Kelly). Having more of these immigrants would enhance the country’s global reputation in modern innovation, which is considered the most important factor driving economic growth, giving
