“Come on bro. Take one hit.” I would hear countless times as if it cognates an answering machine telling you how many calls you missed and the messages you received. Gang members carried a well-known dying desired to become the guardian I so desperately did not want. An immense demand to elude from the neighborhood impacted my every thought. That one arduous decision assisted with my survival of a hazardous neighborhood. My career and life depends on this one decision. I am genuinely able to say devoting so much time to soccer assisted with my survival of the neighborhood through perseverance, passion and courage. For starters, perseverance enforced my decision to devote my time to soccer to evade the untrustworthy, hazardous community I …show more content…
In particular, my smile never fells to reveal itself as if happiness was on a green field with goal post on the extremities. Every single day I would strive the first and last on the field, so I do not endure the pain of being manipulated by relatives for their amusement. Plus, my strenuous work ethic was developed due to sweat, blood, and tears to receive from the complex game. For instance, my ambitious work ethic developed to the where I would be disgusted with myself if I would not achieve my goal. I would accept my failure and learn from the experience as if I was learning the methods to derive in calculus. Furthermore, my work ethic contributed to friendships I develop. Numerous of misleading people appear through my life. I did not fancy to remember any of their personalities characteristics or facial features. Some that exceedingly impacted to me transpire to certain family members, girlfriends that do not last, and partnerships I developed through the dazzling game. The women I did not last with were very influential but lead me not to devote as much time to soccer as I would approve, but they did like keep on track to stay away from the extraneous influences. Family that I came to adore supported my every decision. Their belief in me drove my passion for soccer. Also, the brotherly bond I made with people on multiple teams was essential to how …show more content…
Specifically at night, the starling creations of the darkness would come out to do illegal narcotics and plot chaos in neighborhoods where innocent children the similar age as I am reside in, so the violence is a never-ending cycle. To illustrate, I obtained the courage to never entangle with the atrocious influences under the influences of narcotics. By the time I was six, I obtained the intelligence to identify scents of marijuana and other narcotics. My promise to myself to devote all my time to the beauty of soccer and never concede to illegal narcotics was embedded into the back of my brain as if it was a built in firewall to reassure the protection my computer software. In matter of fact, the same courage became my savior to not associating with the influences of gangs. Gangs is made of a nest of poisonous serpents lingering to strike at downfall, so every failure was an achievement if I denied the gang of serpents any association to myself. The field was my guardian angel due to the work ethic to the serpents was never great except if it benefits them. By all means, my self-confidence matured to the point I insisted to liberate myself from the hazardous community I abide in. At that moment, I recognized that home was the same field that I was devoted all of my time and tears to, and at the same time developed the mindset to assist other struggling
I played soccer since I was seven, as of the last few years I played at a very high level. I have represented Ohio South two times at a regional showcase, I have been invited to participate in a camp in Manchester, England and attended the camp twice. Also last Season for the Newark High School soccer team I was named first team all league and third team all central district. Soccer was the first sport I truly loved to do, I wanted to be the best. I work hours upon hours to master whatever part of the game I wanted to improve on. Soccer has taught me to have a great work ethic, and that mentality came when I was cut from the state team the first time I tried out. It was the worst thing that has ever happened to me, I was destroyed, and I thought I was not good but I knew I could do better. The next year I worked, I got bigger, stronger, faster, my soccer I.Q. was higher;therefore, overall I was a much better player. The result of that work, was that I made the team, but not only, I made the starting line up. After that I knew I could accomplish anything I put my mind to.
I learned how valuable perseverance is because of video games. Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U is one of my favorite games that has taught me the importance of this. In the past, I was never able to beat my friend, but I never gave up because of that loss. I continued to practice the game until I was eventually able to win. This transitioned over to the tournaments that I enter. Perseverance is what drives me to improve so that I can win. Video games are apart of me because they taught me to persevere in
In my life, I had not had the chance to be a part of something that influenced me much, until I joined football my freshman year in high school. Joining football was perhaps the most devoted and wisest thing that I did because shortly after joining I began to see changes for the better, and from then I saw the person that I wanted to be in the future. In other words, it shaped the person that I am today and will be for the rest of my life. Not only did the sport influence me but it also equipped me with a new mindset that affects me today in my decision making skills, time management and many other beneficial life virtues. I believe that these virtues will bring me success in the nearest future because I feel confident about myself and I feel more in control in my life through my actions, all thanks to simply joining what seemed to be a “regular” extracurricular.
Over the years, soccer has changed me as a person. I love thinking back at the great memories I had playing soccer. I plan to never stop playing soccer. Hopefully, I will play on the club team at Shippensburg and never give it up. This was one of my most memorable moments in my life playing soccer. Through soccer I made friends, learned how to be a team player and helped me bring my family closer together. If it wasn’t for soccer I wouldn’t be who I am today and I am very grateful for this.
Each game, my passion grew. Each team, new memories and lifelong friends were made. Sports sometimes make me feel disappointment and at loss; but it taught me to be resilient to a lot of things, like how to thrive under pressure and come out on top. Being the team captain of my high school’s football and lacrosse team showed me how having a big responsibility to bring a group together to work as one is compared to many situations in life. Currently playing varsity football, varsity lacrosse, and track I take great pride in the activities I do. Staying on top of my academics, being duel enrolled at Indian River State College, working three nights a week, and two different sport practices after school each day shaped my character to having a hard work
Our book defines a group as a collection of people who are perceived to bond together in a coherent unit to some degree (Baron 241). Making a decision isn’t always easy depending on how many people are in the group and if there is any conflict within the group. The basic aspects of a group include roles, status, norms and cohesiveness but when viewing my soccer team I see only certain obvious aspects being present. When thinking about the process in which we, as a group have to make the decision of where to stop for food after an away game, it is obvious that many theories and/or topics can be applied. These theories or topics include evaluation apprehension, social decision schemas, authentic dissent and conflict. The four subjects listed above help explain how a group can come to a decision together.
...kills, I can always count on my second family to support me through it all. Multiple times when I was feeling my soccer skills weren’t up to par and I wasn’t good enough, my coaches consistently encouraged to keep practicing and training myself to become a better player. They didn’t let me quit because they knew I could become better if I gave it my all. The encouragement that I receive from my soccer family is so greatly valued because I know they are choosing, out of love, to support me.
Researchers have long sought to understand the salience of gang involvement (Varano, Huebner and Bynum, 2011). Studies show that those involved in gang activity “begin their delinquent/criminal careers earlier, experience higher levels of violent victimizations, have accelerated levels of participation in the most serious forms of delinquency, experience great number of incarceration periods, and are generally more problematic when incarcerated” (Varano, Huebner and Bynum, 2011). Gang involvement typically leads to delinquent behavior in youth and it leads them down the wrong path of life. There is typically a higher rate of youth involved in gangs who come from broken homes, do not have jobs, are on drugs or come from families that do drugs, and school drop
Soccer the most popular sport in the world, since is the sport with more active players with around 270 million athletes. By having registered so many players, it’s not surprising that this sport has more fans than any other sport worldwide. Every team looks for a player that moves the ball, and that creates plays to score. This means a person that pass the ball through the entire game. To pass the ball in a proper way is one of the main skills a player needs to play soccer. Passing the ball, keeps the game going. Without being able to pass the ball accurately to your teammates, more than likely your team won’t be able to score a goal. The key for passing is to keep things simple. This means passing the ball to your nearest teammate that is not marked by an opponent.
The definition of soccer: “A game played by two teams of eleven players with a round ball that may not be touched with the hands or arms during play except by the goalkeepers. The object of the game is to score goals by kicking or heading the ball into the opponent 's ' goal.” When I think about the thing I’m most passionate about, soccer pops into my head right away. Soccer represents more than just a game to me. The sport gives me an outlet distract me from the real world, it taught me to overcome a battle that shaped my character, and my teammates bring out the best in me.

I was asked to think back about something memorable and to write an essay about a life’s lesson learned. In high school, soccer was very important to me. It was my favorite sport. My freshman year I decided to pick and focus on only one of the many sports I had played in the passed. I came to the conclusion that I should play soccer considering it was one I was strongest at. I also enjoyed soccer more than the other sports I had played because it was a tough sport, which was a challenge to me. During the years I played high school soccer I made a decision in which when I look back on, I think I could have handled differently.
Throughout a persons life, they are faced with different obstacles, and different challenges of all different types. My life in particular has been full of up and downs related especially towards my soccer career. In the novel The Pact, three boys, George, Rameck, and Sam are faced with many obstacles throughout their lives, where they must learn to overcome and achieve great success on their own will power. Essentially, I have done the same thing. My soccer career has been one of my most difficult life challenges creating the person I am today. I was always taught that soccer was to be about the love of the game and that it should be fun. Unfortunately, I faced many obstacles that I needed to overcome before I could truly love the game for what it was worth. I grew and continued to love the game, knowing little at the time of the obstacles I would be faced with, and would need to overcome.
It was a gloomy day, Hurricane Hermine blew past Greenville leaving behind scattered puddles across campus as well as lingering clouds blocking most of the sunlight. The air was cool yet there was a certain electricity present that made that day feel less dreary. It was the first home college football game, East Carolina University was going to play against Western Carolina University. The two institutions haven’t played each other since 1981 and it was sure to be an interesting match up, football season was back in full swing and this match would define the success to come for the home team.
