Future research and treatment options will defiantly be needed. Someone with a personality disorder, such as narcissistic personality disorder, might benefits from a few types of treatments altogether. A person might start off with attending group therapy. This will help them get to know others with the same disorder as themselves. Group therapy should have a broad spectrum of patients with personality disorder, like moderate to severe. The therapy with others could possibly show the person, how severe this disorder can be, if not properly treated or kept under control. If group therapy does not help as well as planned, the person can also start one on one therapy with a psychiatrist (along with still attending group therapy). With one on one therapy, the psychiatrist and person suffering the disorder can focus solely on themselves as the patient. This therapy can help them to realize and change their extreme behaviors, help with establishing good behaviors, and how to properly handle situations where this disorder would cause them to act chaotic. (Stop exaggerating; be more humble, less defensive, etc.). In severe cases, or cases were they are harming themselves the psychiatrist should have them monitor around the clock for so many days or weeks. This can help the psychiatrist better understand what situations cause the patient to start hurting themselves, how they handle situations, and how they act towards friends
